This looks very very good!
Also looks like it's not overcomplexed too build, while it has complex structure on the real thing.
Can't wait to get my 2 preordered

...and my Zvezda T-90 is only half built.
This didn't go according to plan.

Hi Fredrik, I have the Zevezda T-90 kit and in the box it looks to be a great kit. Just by looking at the MENG pics alone, I don't see that it is a quantum leap over the Zvezda offering. Of course, subsequent reviews once the kit is to hand may suggest otherwise. Hope your own T-90 turns out well.
To think all those years we waited for a 1/35 T-90 and then two tremendous kits come along in the space of a year.

Unfortunately appearances can be deceivig. The Zvezda kit has some serious proportional issues. The side skirts are too large and the front armour plate is too short. This changes the profile of the front hull, I noticed it immediately. It requires some substantial scratch building-which I am doing at the moment. The wheels have badly formed rims, they are useless. Just put these parts next to a Tamiya kit to see the issues I am mentioning. Anyway, I think the Zvezda turret is really nice, and the kit is twice cheaper.I have not seen the Meng kit yet, but anythig is a quantum leap ovet this.

It is a good kit. For the money, I'd say it's a spectacular kit. Only low point is the nylon mesh grills that you have to cut yourself. The thermal-sleeved barrel, being a two-piece part, will take lot of work to clean up.
My build stalled due to a minor disaster.
When I test-fitted the barrel (quite a snug fit, I might add) the mantlet came off (I hadn't glued it properly) when I removed the barrel and tore off and broke parts of the Shtora countermeasure units (the headlights on both side of the barrel).
I guess it is fixable to a point where it will look passable but I kind of lost my modelling zen at that point, which is why my T-90 isn't finished like I had planned to. I had hoped to finish it before all those masterfully built and painted Meng T-90s start to appear.

You can sort of convert it into an Indian T90 Bhishma. They have the Shtora emitters replaced with triangular ERA blocks. A little scratch building should do it. Probably there are other differences, but this seems to be the most obvious one.

The upper hull is also wrong in a lot of areas, the lower hull is wrong. Even the turret is incorrect here and there.

Mmm...A Bhishma could be a future prospect. At this point my mindset is more like: "Ok, it's not going to turn out great but get it done nonetheless".

Hi all,
I have seen this kit, in the box, in Honk Kong, and it is as good as you think it is. I may pick up a couple to take home, they are cheap-ish, but amazing details and crispness of moulding.
This kit will not be a disappointment.

well, to counter general excitement about the kit, tracks are better tossed into trash.

Could you elaborate on your remark George? ie. why?

Sure. They decided to split guide horn parts right along double pivot, so you have to glue top and bottom parts onto track boot assembly then add two end pivots on either side. Easy on injection process, not the modeler. A more costly but construction effective approach would be to mold guide horns and end linkages whole, but make individual track boots with pivot rods sticking out at each side. The same way Modelfixer used to make their injection T-80 track sets.

Are they accurate or is it the assembly that is the red flag George?
