Hello mates
I'm building the Trumpeter BMP-1, but i don't want to paint is all green, in matter of fact i would like to make a camouflaged machine, my question, there was any camouflaged BPM-1 in the iraqi army during the Desert Storm war (or latter...).
And with colours should i paint it? (if there was camo's ones)
Thank you in advance.

Iraqi Armor was painted in several different shades of sand. In the north it was common to see a grayer shade and there were some painted green/sand. I like light stone and NATO green with some filters myself, but I dont know how you could go wrong with any shade.
My 2 cents

If you weren't set on Desert Storm, the Syrians have some pretty cool camo patterns on their BMP-1's, as well as the "rebels".

Hi Chris
Thank you for your answer. Do you know where i can find a reference picture? A paint scheme? something that i can use to guide me during the paint work?

Hi Erik
Yes i already saw some but they are a little bit to dark in my opinion, its the reason why i would prefer the sand/green scheme, but the pictures are hard to find, as a matter of fact i didn't find any

Vitor,
Type in "Iraqi BMP" into the google search and a ton of images will come up.... The green was mostly painted in narrow to medium bands. I think the modern IRaqi Army uses more brown on sand in a "leaf" pattern.

Viktor beat me to it, but the military photos.net like he provided has many relevant threads.
There is a , sometimes graphic, thread on the syrian uprising under the "strictly photos and videos" menu on the lower right of each page.

the Syrian Army used all of the old Russian exported military machines from the T 62s to the T-72s and some t-80s an all the BMP's that Russia had with all different paint jobs that I have seen in the pictures on here it looks like there are no two alike.
Happy modeling

Syria most definitely does not have T-80's.

Vitor, here are my recommendations for an Iraqi BMP-1 from DESERT STORM:
Polly Scale NATO TRI GREEN
Model Master Acryl #4697 TAN
I am basing this on up-close and personal observations of several of these vehicles immediately after the cessation of hostilities.
Regards,
Ron
