Hi guys-
This is my PzKpfw IV H so far. I still have to finish a bit of etch on the hull - then it's on to the turret. The guys in the chat have seen this as it has progressed - if anybody has any pointers, that would be great :-)

That is spiffy. It will almost be a shame to paint it! How did you do the Zim? Is it the Cavalier or putty?

Lord Nelson aka "Da PE god":
A fantastic in progress pic set! The build appears to be clean from top to bottom with no glue smudges, crisp pe bending and placement, the zim coat, ---- very very impressive. More please.
Keep us posted.

Keenan - yea, Commander hit the nail on the head. The lower hull is milliput, and the rest is the Cavalier set. I'm certainly gonna have reservations about painting it :-) I typically get more satisfaction out of the build process than the painting anyway..... lol
I will say that the 3 Aber sets are a bit much in hindsight... good lord... I haven't even used half of the bits and parts for the lower hull and I'm already going blind... hehehe However, I do like the end result. Those Aber sets are worth the money - even if you don't use all the parts. I kinda made a deal with Cat and SS that I would Uday the heck out of this thing - just to see what it would look like. Typically I don't use all this etch.... well..... ummmm.... thinking of my last couple of vehicles (Bison II and StuG IIIA) I guess I do :-)
I'm a sick man. I still have to add the Aber turret skirts, Fruils, Jordi barrel, and Archer transfers..... I should build a IV H out of the box and see if all this AM stuff is really worth it....lol I guess it is - for me at least. I like working with etch - it gives me some weird sort of satisfaction. It makes the building more fun for me.... like I said - I'm a sick man. Anybody got any pills for whatever i've got?
Later-
Jeff
PS - Thanks for the compliments Kiwi, Commander, Lord "OD Underwear", Venom, and Keenan. I appreciate the input!

Petro -
This is my method - I'm sure others bend differently, but I like to do it this way.
The only tools I use are these exacto knives with the square tipped blades and a biece of plexi-glass to bend on:
Sample piece of etch - sorry about the fuzzy pic. I put a piece of black construction paper down so the pictures would be clearer.
Hold one knife in the left hand - lining the blade up with the fold line on the part. Push down pretty hard to prevent the piece from sliding.
Using the other knife - in my right hand - I slide the blade under the flap I want folded up.
Lift up on the (right) handle to fold the piece - keeping the knife in your left hand firmly pressed down. - presto .... a nice neat even fold :-)

Lord Nelson!!!
Most excellent (N/T) (N/S)
This is among the very best PE works I seen on this site, and thank you for the tips on using the blades for bending PEs, I on the other hand as most expertile modelers out there using Big Shop Flod and Holt. But I tell ya, your amateritch blade bended PE looked much nicer than mine. That I don't like.
Can't see the baby get painted up, man. Good work
