This is the 1/35th BLAST MODELS Borgward IV.
The basis is the DML / Revell / Gunze borgward, plus resin modifications from Blast.
These include the armament, the seat for the "gunner", exhaust, smoke canisters, tracks.
The tracks come in small lenghts. You have to heat them to give them the proper shape. Then, you glue them in the right spot. It's a bit hard when it's your first try but then it's feasable.
That's a great little kit !
The vehicle was used only in the defense of berlin. The armament consisted of 6 panzerschrek (anti-tank rockets). The armor was minimal.
The guys in these vehicles must have been crazy. Would you imagine yourself hunting a T34 or a JS2 in this small vehicle ?
I built the model for the Tank destroyer group build in the "Are you kidding me ?" section !
I'm open to all kind of criticism, just tell me what you think !

The build looks good. The tracks must have been a pain the way they were heated and bent.
Would you share a brief description of how you did the camo scheme? Base coat, then free hand or soft edge mask?
Thanks - very nice overall build.

Nice little vehicle, and great work. It's good to see something interesting in WW2 German armor. I have seen a photo of one of these Borgward BIV's with the 7.5cm Leichtgeschutz 40. Has anyone ever built this version ?
Thanks !
Robert

WOW! Looked awesome, very unusual subject to model, I seen this in tristar shop, and was so tempted to get it as well. Great work.

David, I was lucky enough to see Gilles Peifer (one of the founders of blast Models) demonstrate his painting skills on the same kit... so how could I resist bying it ?
Also, knowing it was a limited release, how could I resist ? My exemple has the number 104 and two weeks later none was left in the shop !
Now, they've re-released the resin as a conversion for the plastic kit.
As to the painting :
tamiya dark yellow for the base.
then comes tamiya green spaghettis, painted free-hand. I found them a bit too wide and too pronouced... so I painted more yellow on the sides to make the lines narrower... then I sprayed more yellow, very thinned, on top of everything. That hid the green lines a bit, bringing it all together.
After that came a gloss coat then wash and dry brush in oils. Scratches were made here and there with a graphite pen.
I painted a little green heart and white lines around it on the front, but the pastels hide it a lot (street combat generates a LOT of dust).
So I used pastels and... a flat humbrol coat !

Nice one PEN-PEN. Very unusual and interesting vehicle. Looks so cool and all topped off with a brilliant camo and weathering job. Will we see a figure added?

The diorama I intend to do for this one :
"Berlin may the 9th : forgotten defender"
The vehicle will be abandoned next to a heavily damaged building, in a small street, where a soviet patrol ( 2 soldiers walking casualy) is passing.
