Hi, this is my first time posting on the armorama forums and also my first attempt at building tanks. Presenting the Lee Model T-55 modelled as an Iraqi T-55.

The Lee Model T-55 is a copy of the Esci model, which only had very little improvements to the esci kit. The kit is not very accurate and lacks quite a number of details. Some detailing was added to the kit, like the fuel lines, the headlight cage and minor details. Overall it was a interesting building. The weathering is done using a combination of sponge chipping, oil washes and pastels. As the kit did not come with decals for the Iraqi army, i decided to leave it as it is. Comments and critics welcome!!

Very nice. You turned a dog of a kit into a very nice piece. The only thing I see that still needs some attention are the tracks. They are way too loose and should be tightened up and also should be glued down to the tops of the middle 3 road wheels (see below).

Considering the kit you started from, the result is really nice! The paint job is good as well.
But it is not a T-55, the dome ventilator on the top of the turret makes it a T-54.

Thanks for the comments guys. I also realized that the tracks looks somewhat weird. I have already glued the rubber tracks to the 3 middle road wheels in the pictures, but still somehow seems off when compared to the actual vehicle.

Nice. So a turd CAN be polished with a little work!
Good color choice by the way.
Those tracks are hard to get correct, but you may have some luck inducing some sag over the first road wheel be using thread - run it through the track and around the axle between the two road wheels. You can adjust it until you have it at the height where you want it.

Cool build Wee, it shows shows what can be done with these lets say "low tech" kits. I would of added a set of Trumpeters tracks
but thats only my 2 cents.

Awesome! I like the weathering a lot! May I ask what was the base color for the metalic look on the scratches/weathering?

Hi, the base color is Gunze "Hull Red" followed by a layer of hairspray and finished off with the Lifecolor sand color. For the chipping i used a combination of hairspray chipping as well as sponge chipping using the AK interactive chipping color (AK 711). As a result there is a slight variation of chipping color. Hope this helps!
