Just wondered if anyone had info about the kit? I'm referring to the 1/35 scale release. Accurate?
TIA

It is the only one besides the terrible Dragon/Zvezda offering.
Should be pretty good, although these new kits also might miss some details (like the BMP-1 air vent cover molded in a solid plastic chunk with no definition).
Although I would rather wait for the late version as this is the old one.
Attached my compilation, left one is the "early" (note that both top drawings are for the "early" one, I just marked one difference on that, the rest is uncahnged, therefore "early")
Cheers,
Adam

I've just started on the Trumpy BTR-70 Late version and it looks to be a cracker with two etch frets, clear parts sprue, vinyl tyres and......
a complete interior (minus engines) which sold it for me. As for the accuracy I'm really not qualified to say. As mentioned I have only just started with removing the styrene periscope guards and replacing with the etched ones so it's very early days to comment on any build issues but going on what's in the box I'd recommend it.

Thanks everyone for the feedback !
Adam- the pics are really helpful showing the changes
I was trying to decide between the -70 or the new - 80, thought either would look cool next to the Stryker
maybe Santa will be kind this year..

I have all of them BTR-60, BTR-70, BTR-80. All of them are VERY nice, with interiors EXCEPT for the engine bays and engines. All of them scale out very close on QUICK inspection. I have not gone over them with a fine tooth comb, so I cannot say every bolt is exactly correct, but you cannot go wrong with any one of them.
Pick and kit and build...that simple.

Trumpeter HAS announced a BTR-80A. Right now the easiest way to build it is with the Trumpeter BTR-80 and take the turret from the BTR-60PB upgraded (it is the BTR-80A turret). Bingo, all done, all with the same level of detail (the BTR-80A turret is VERY nicely done).

The BTR-60PBM turret is not OK for a BTR-80A.
E.g. there's no grenade launcher on the 80A-s turret and the main gun is different too.

Nope, you have it correct. Difference of 2A42 (BTR-60PB) and 2A72 (BTR-80A). Grenade launcher is optional for the turret, and not standard issue for BTR-80A, but possible to add on. Oops on me.

I just finished it. It actually builds up into a very nice kit. The problems lie in the instructions, parts seems to magically appear on the diagrams, and a lot of them are mis-numberd. Along with that, I ran into fitment issues with the fenders, otherwise its a great kit but very temperamental. I actually had an incident where I had just finished weathering and realized that I did not put the periscopes in, so I had to split the hull, but it turned out ok. The tires, are rubber but they are not terrible. and the photo etch is nice. I recommend it highly because it is the nicest kit on the market for the BTR-80

Hi Guys;
Yea this figures, I just wonder when the release date will be on there BTR-80a. THANKS JD The one question that I have is if the Interior is included in the BTR-80 like it is in the BTR-70. ? The other question that I am most interested in is the Engine and its compartment. If I remember, the BTR-70 used twin Gaz engines side by side for its Power. But I am not quite sure about the BTR-80 ! Maybe our Friends on the other side can Shed some lite on the engine, I can see one of the AM companies getting involved with this And the Tires are a Must for replacement, the Miniarm sets are Top-notch in this department. Just about the only other thing that I can see is maybe the RB Barrel for the 14.5mm Gun ! The BTR-70 & 80 are a Great Addition too the Collection of Soviet Vehicles.
Now if only Someone will Start with the French Armored Cars.
CHEERS; MIKE.

BTR-80 has a full interior (minus engines) same as other BTR's.
SP Designs also has BTR series wheels too.
