I didnt reseach this fully but could this be a colaberation between Meng and Takom? The Leopard looks suspiciously like the Meng kit and Takom molded the MEXAS? Hence the different color of plastic? I might be totally wrong but just curious. I just bought this kit on ebay. I love the look of the tank.

I was able to compare the two kits more and there are a lot of differences. The wheels are slightly different in details but both have the non-detailed back of the wheels. The Takom bottom hull has molded on detail and the rear hull plate is molded to the hull. The upper hulls are also different. Details are similar, but there are differences. I tried swapping hull tops to see...they fit very well except the front glacis plates. Turrets are different for obvious reasons and not worth comparing. My guess is if anything, they shared blue prints or some of the basic design process, but the molds are not the same.

EDIT: also, Takom has the periscopes molded to the hull in green. Meng has separate periscopes

Why don't you just get the Italeri Leo 1A5 kit for the hull? Both type of grills are included.

Mine just arrived today. The studs for the regular 1A5 turret are not in the kit unless they are the same as the MEXAS mounts, of which there are 8 total. The kit comes with the basic turret sprue which has turret top and bottom, mantlet, cover, hatches and gun.

The studs under the forward mexas module appear to be the same as those on the regular 1A5. But I guess there are not enough studs provided for the whole turret?

The figure is kinda strange. It looks like an afterthought. Not even an Afghani would be dumb enough to go and shake his fist at a Leopard with nothing but an AK. lol

Can you tell me how many track links were required per side? I'm building one right now and have managed to break three of the links removing the from the sprue - they are very delicate. I hope I will still have enough, but was wondering if you could tell me?
