From what I've read and heard, Meng T-90 is like the perfect 10 of T-90 models in the market. So many rave reviews: http://www.missing-lynx.com/reviews/modern/mengts006reviewbg_1.html

Hi;

Meng By Far, as they even give you the Complete Engine Compartment with the Engine.

Meng for detail and welded turret, Trump if you want the cast turret version.

I have heard complaints about Mengs plastic being 'soft' but most people arnt bothered much or at all by it.

But trumpeter for easierer build. I don't see that much differences between trumpeter and meng in detail. For me personal the motor is more or less useless, it's all about the general detailing. On meng some details are nice, but the soft plastic makes it hard to remove them from sprues without damage, otherway there are areas where some edges and corners are not crisp enough molded.

Have 2 mengs in the work, will go for trumpeter's one next. The detailing of trumpeter's last kits is just great (bmp-1, 2s1 etc)

My bet would be Meng. I'm not impressed with Trumpeter's detail in it's products.

I guess you did not build a Trumpeter kit in a while, their details keep improving model after model
Anyway, I feel that talking about T-90, Meng's kit is a step ahead -and not a ver long step-

Hmmm more food for thought I guess

Sooo can anyone tell me this one finally thing then. Who exactly uses the cast turret version? Was this for the export version?

Have you considered Zvezda's T-90?

I think Meng's models are all better than Trumpy's ones.

Cheers!

I can't say anything about Trumpeter's kit but I've just started Meng's and it really is a fantastic kit. The plastic is a bit softer than Dragon or Tamiya but not by much and so far I've not found I have to take more than the usual care in removing parts from the sprue and cleaning them up.

I would be interested to see a comparison review with detailed photographs of all three offerings(something I've been hoping would show up on PMMS), but I suspect that any of the three kits will build up into a fine model.

I have not built either model, but I have the Meng T-90 and the Trumpeter T-72, which still has T-90 parts on the sprues.

One thing Trumpeter has done better than Meng are the wide retaining straps on the fenders for the fuel tanks on one side and storage boxes on the other, which are separate etched straps with tiny plastic bolts. I would assume that they have done the same on their T-90. Meng has molded these solid. Still nice, but Trumpeter does beat them for detail in that particular area.

Then again, this is now possible to "rectify" on the Meng kit with the new Miniarm fuel tanks and boxes, which include the etched straps.
