Important hint. The AM track from AFV Club is NOT used on the Marder 1 A5. All Marder 1A5 have the new Diehl track on which the sprockets get into the tracks body andnot into the end connectors. But the Revell kit track look quite good.

Hi Hermann,
I have discovered that the hard way, I'll save them for when I give the Tamiya Marder a go, I have just finished ordering the Perfect Scale Modellbau set to replace the AFV club set, the Revell tracks look nice though, however they sag inwards when placed onto the drive wheel.
Cheers,
Pete

Does that mean the drive sprocket is unchanged from 1A3 to 1A5?

Hi Chuck,
Revell have made slight changes to the drive wheel, the centre wheel hubs being the main difference, I will post some photos later today, the AFV club tracks don't fit as there to narrow for both the drive wheels included in the Revell kit, I believe there designed for the Tamiya 1/35 Marder 1A3, I have the Perfect Scale Modellbau track set on its way that should rectify everything as it includes new drive wheels also.
Cheers,
Pete

Thanks.
I have a tamiya marder 1a1 kit, which I had intended to convert into an Argentinian TAM. Maybe the AFV tracks can go one that.

Hi Chuck,
On the left is the new wheel in the kit for the 1A5 version as you can see the main differences are the width due to the new style of track Hermann pointed out above and the height of the centre wheel hub. I'm not sure what version the drive wheels were changed and the new tracks added, maybe Hermann can shed some light on that area, I have only been looking into the 1A5.
Cheers
Peter

Hey Peter
Nice Project ... a while back I finished the demo models for Gerold PSM (painting weathering etc.)
Since you have the Tankograd ref. the model would allow you to utilize the side skirts without the camo-netting giving it a "more interesting" appearance.
When airbrushing the Barracuda camo make sure to spray a darker Brown colour in the "undersides" of the camo adding more depth to it.
The German camo scheme is straight forward ... there is only one kind. I believe to remember that there are also a few very faint Green patches as well around the headlights and the AC-unit ...
Construction of this kit is a "piece of cake" fits perfectly together and actually quite fast too.
Thankx to you I'll now have to get out my kit ....

Hi everyone,
Does anyone have any info on the correct track for the Marder 1A5, the resin ones are being quite hard to construct, the guys at Fruil will make metal ones if someone can provide the correct information.
Thanks
Peter

There are several walkaround on the Marder 1A5 on the net, e.g. primeportal and panzer-modell.de. But I don`t think that you can get datasheets from Diehl.

You can try the Puma tracks from Easy Metal Links. They are identical to the Marder 1A5 ones. Item no EML35-005

Puma and Marder tracks aer NOT identical. I checked my pics and can say that the end-connectors are different.

The way the drive wheel operates by rotating the tracks is a different point on the tracks also.

I am trully sorry for my mistake. I had the understanding that the Marder 1A5 tracks and the Puma ones are identical.
Now I have a spare puma track and no tracks for my Marder.
