Hi all,

Just a quick question. I was thinking about getting this set (1/35 British Commonwealth Universal Carrier Crew in Winter Uniform) from Riich models, and was wondering if they would be appropriate uniforms for a Canadian Achilles crew?

I would probably have to cut them up a bit to even get them to fit the turret, but...

Thanks

The Ultracast Crewman in the Pixie suits are stellar figures. Just bear in mind that Canadian armoured crews were not issued the Pixie suits until very late 1944 or even early 1945.

Al,Jason and Mike,

Thanks for taking the time to respond. Much appreciated. I did not know about the Ultracast figures. They do look really nice. The Pixie suit is the heavy cold weather overalls they were given, right?

So, would a Canadian Achilles, 5th Arm Div, 17th Reg still have Achilles late 44? Those are the decals on my Achilles I was thinking of adding the turret crew to.

Al, as soon as I saw your screenshots I said to myself, Oh, why didn't I remember those earlier!

Thanks all, happy modeling!

I am not sure what your question is. The 5th Canadian (Armoured) Division deployed to Italy extensively through 1944. It moved to NW Europe in January 1945 and that's when the new kit...ie...Pixie suits were issued to Armoured crews.

Within the 5th Canadian (Armoured) Division the Royal Canadian Artillery (RCA) had command of the Anti-Tank Regiments.

The 4th Anti-Tank Regiment was the Anti-Tank unit in the 5th Div under RCA command. Within the Regiment there were four Batteries...

•98th Anti-Tank Battery
•49th Anti-Tank Battery
•82nd Anti-Tank Battery
•16th Anti-Tank Battery

Which kit and decals do you have? There wasn't a 17th Anti-Tank Regiment in the 5th Division that I can find.

Jason,

You are more on that I am for sure! You are right, my addled brain messed that up. The decals are from WhiskeyJack. I did the 5th Cdn Armd Div, 4th AT Rgt.

So I have the tank done (it is posted in my gallery and the Commonwealth Thunder GB) but just wanted to add crew. So if I do early uni's, the vehicle would be wrong, right, because they had M10s there? Not sure about this. So, I was trying to do NW Europe. Hence the heavy winter uniform desire.
