Please let it be true. a new t-55 and a T-54 would be soooooo great. And maybe, while they are at it a T-72M1

I hope so, It's about time we had another T-55 kit tbh.
That picture looks a little bit like a Tam T-55 lower hull copy job, except with the turret ring bulges moulded into the side walls, and some rather nasty looking sink holes in the bump stops, even has the 'fake' backplate wall and front lower plate, just like the Tam lower hull.
Still, shouldn't complain, will be nice to have another T-55.
Don't forget this is likely a very early test hull and won't reflect(hopefully)the finished product.

Undoubtedly we do need a T-72M1 and the 54 hasn't actually been kitted yet. But for the T-55 theres nothing really wrong with the Tamiya kit, sure its missing a few details but its still a solid base.

And, people don't understand why I think a new sd.kfz.9 is in order.

Oh gesh John! That's what happens when you can count past 10!
I just marked a few off with the 1/16 Trumpeter SU-100 and the 1/16 Takom FT-17.
Good luck and hope we don't see your mug shot in the PO!

Would be really exciting (for me at least) if Trump released a T-54-1 and eventually a ZSU-57.

A 57 will come later I'm sure. They'll have to do extensive work on the hull to make it work.

The ZSU-57-2 has seen a lot of combat, in Angola, Vietnam, the former Yugoslavia and the Middle East; it's regrettable that we don't have a 1/35th scale kit of such a historically significant vehicle. I hope Trumpeter will consider producing one for us.

Why is this seen as good news?
1. Tamiya's T-55 is a bit of a mis-mash. Nothing horrible, but not really depicting a large amount of the T-55's coming out of Russia without a change in the engine deck. Which is not that big a deal except as it relates to point 2...
2. Tamiya never capitalizes on their molds. And no, I do not see adding eduard PE and a metal barrel as a capitalization. the Enigma was a good step, but 1 variant every 15 years....not really all that great.
There is a VERY solid chance that Trumpeter will make a kit that has more parts, including indy tracks, and more fiddly as well, but the detail level should be greater/more refined, and IF anyone is going to capitalize on making variants, in all their miniscule changes glory, it will be Trumpeter.
The best chance to EVER see a ZSU-57-2 in plastic is Trumpeter. Hooray. (Personally, I want a bridge-layer version! )

Theres a bear of a kit from 5star/armo of the 57-2. Its expensive and no shake and bake. I would LOVE to see a 57-2 in plastic but i really doubt we will.
The trumpy annoucement is , however, quite welcome. I hope they will start with a T54 but I will buy whatever.
