Wow it's a great day for modern Russian armor fans I guess I can throw away my crappy eastern express kits, now all we need is the BMD-2 which hopefully will follow soon.

Hi Everybody;
Yes this is Great News, it will be very interesting too see what kind of Tracks are in the Box. There were Three different kit makers of the BMDs, the Best was by Zvesda. The others were Maquette and Eastern Express, they were o.k. but required a bit of extra details too make a Good model. Now when I say Good that was after you replaced the kits Tracks and Weapons, and Model Point was A Must Have for the BMD-1 & 2 ! And I almost Forgot the BTRT which you could get in several different versions also, The BMDs suspension was not only lowered for just Air-Drops but was also lowered when Dug into A Defensive position aswell.
Lets Hope that they give us the BMD-2 also !
CHEERS; MIKE.

OT; Check out the Revue of the T-80u by XACT Scale, its quite nice.

Well, if it was Meng or Trumpy, I'd be very happy... why Panda, why?

yes I was waiting for a BMD from Trumpeter, anyway, I think it's a matter of time before they release their version.

Not a big fan of Panda, but might get one.
The Zvezda kit is pretty good as long as you change the tracks and maybe add a metal gun (same as BMP-1).
Cheers,
Christophe

Never seen inside one of their kits before, but what do they normally go with... Indy links or one piece vinyl tracks?

1. The three plastic kits put out were Eastern Express, Zvezda and SKIF. Not Maquette.
2. Zvezda kit was good. Tracks were bad, but the detail was very nice and it was a good base to start from for super-detailing (over-detailing?)
3. Not sure if this will be better than Zvezda other than the tracks. Not to knock on Panda, but I am not sure they can improve on Zvezda, well, not without over doing the kit.
(BTW the other "variants" done by Eastern Express were the BTR-D and the 2S9 Nona.)

Thinking about this one has motivated me to pull the old Skif kit, in-progress, off the shelf-o-shame and start it back up. I must have gotten 80% done with the old dog before shelving it.
Looks like I'll have another entry in the Unfinished Business campaign here in a few.

Knowing their previous kits, I'm not too optimistic about this new release
Let's wait until we see actual sprues and not only a box, I hope I'm wrong and Panda ends bringing us an outstanding kit...
