This is a Tiger I full metal by aeromate, Details were from an ABER set and scratchbuilt. The vehicle ist almost ready to see paint. It needs to be disassembled to ease the painting process and to enable the installment of all mechanical and electronical stuff.
It's meant to look like this Tiger I I built in 2002 and which some of the older fellows might know from the past

Are the main portions, like the turret and hull, made out of aluminum? If not, what does that beast weigh?
It looks really good as a bare metal subject.

The main portions were made of Aluminium, brass and cast iron.
Just weighted it in.....at 10.5 kg! The vehicle (8.8kg) and the electronics, batteries and two Motor/gearbox units (1.7kg)....

10.5 kg?? WOW! That definitely fits in the category of heavy metal!
Jeff, a quick search online revealed a $2200+ price tag, though I don't know what Frank has tied up in this one.

Had to check it out, myself. I came up with the same amount. But, it looks to be a very nice kit. I'd put it behind bullet proof glass.

Far from that! It's a model build in metal!
I always fancied having one in all metal and not painting it. Kinda like in the movie "Battle of the Bulge" when the looked at the M47 model.
I love it and I myself have several 1/16 tanks in R/C too. Nice work!

Totally agree with Jeff! Posting this build sure won't disturb or offend anyone here! It looks like these have been around 5 or 6 years and this is the first time I've seen or heard of it. Thanks for posting!
Now all I have to do is figure out which kidney I'd like to get rid of so that I can afford to buy one!

A model is a model is a model.... An armor model is an armor model...
No offence taken by moi Frank. Looks awesome. Your workbench looks WAY too clean though and that offends me because I try and try but fail miserably to keep my work area clean. In fact I've had to annex a good portion of our dining room table for my current project.
Looking forward to the paint job.

Yeah would defiantly leave it bare metal.
2,300 USD according to their site, which doesn't look like it's been touched since 2012.

This is a stunning kit, I would never paint it.
You have done a great job with it, reminds me of those expensive armourtec kits

Thank's out there!
Why paint it?
My first thoughts had been going indeed in the opposit direction. But first of all, leaving it in bare metal finish means exactely no scratches or irritations on the main surfaces (so at least it would have needed hours of polishing without harming the delicate brass details) and of course it would require some kind of varnish to prevent the metal from becoming tarnished.
The Tiger is fully functioning, so, crawling around with some sort of "jewelry", would be the result...
And most important of all: I love monochrome finishes since they potentially offer a universe of shading capabilities (opportunities).

These are the final photos. The Tiger will be disassembled next!
I've made a few omissions using Tamiya kit parts due to the fact, that it is going to be painted anyway...
What is missing now are minor details to be added after painting and of course all the filling of the screw holes and the welding seams (which should be done after the tank being diassembled and prior to priming.

Hi Frank,
I wanted to ask if the tracks are Impact Tracks?
Also, where did you buy the kit. I'm thinking of possibly getting one.
thanks..

I always wanted an all metal 1/16 tank... that I put together, not like those HL RTR tanks.
It would be a shame to paint over all this hard work.
