Which of the 5 variants in the Tamiya kit would be closest to a T55 used by Egypt during the '67 or '73 wars?
Thanks.

With having to transport a T55 or two during my military career I would stay with Tamiya's T55, copyright 2002, kit 35257, or Trumpeter's 1958 version, kit 342. Not many versions/series/updates of the T-55 occured between 1958 and 1967...with allies and clients receiving mostly hand-me-downs anyway. With some exceptions, Egypt would get first, fresh, frontline builds. Some aftermarket items may be required to bring either of these two kits up to 1967 or 1973 standards, but reference materials will dictate that for you. Either way, both kits should do well for you. Stay away, IMHO, from kits by ERTL, SKIF, AMT, Linberg, UM, or ESCI...you will spend 2 to 3 times the cost in aftermarket for a kit that will not get close to the detail needed. Hope this helps.

T-55 was produced in Russia,Poland and Czechoslovakia and tanks of all these origins were supplied at Arab countries, with and without anti-aircraft MG,so you can use all options of the Tamiya kit,but russian-made tanks seems to be most common in those years.

Google Vasco Barbic. Mr. Barbic did several articles for Military Modelling during the eighties with plans and photos. Some of these articles covered Egyptian T-55s.
