I don't think it's too bad.. although I do figure that it won't be a cake walk putting the Fighting Compartment sides together... I'm not a rivet counter...lol even though I've been trying to throw a few things that I see in the Nut's n BOlts book in there (but I'm sure my accuracy is horrible!)
I've seen the New Hummel in the box.. and it is awsome.. so if you haven't bought one yet.. go with the new one... I'm building this one, cause it was already on the shelf.. if I didn't already own it.. I definately would've gone for the new one... But I'm having fun.. so that's all that matters ;-)

I have a buddy that built this kit, it is old, but it looks great when painted!

good one Tuna as this is the bit that a lot of people don't get. I too build for fun and enjoyment.
The folds on some of that PE looks excellent. Do you use a folder or is it hand bent? Nice placement too with no excess glue (like me). Keep up the good work

Hi Mr Roo.. I use the Etch Mate.. I highly recommend that or the Hold n Fold.. a lot easer than the old days trying to pin things with razer blades and bend with another.. lol I had a lot of accidents then!

Nice work here. Its coming right along. Sometimes working on an older kit, and using all sorts of aftermarket items, teaches you how to use those products. Alot of times, a so-so kit will turn out better the you might expect.

Looks very clean so far there Tuna...
hehe... I did the same thing with the old tool nashorn. I had both eduard etch sets for it and bought tracks, etc...... then whammo - Dragon releases a brand new Nashorn.. lol
Your build looks very solid and I really like all the extra detail you are putting into this :-) Why go half way, eh? hehe
Later-
Jeff
PS - Good luck getting the sides of the fighting compartment to mate up at the correct angle. My advice would be to test fit that sucker :-)

Looks great Charlie, cant wait to see it in the flesh, so to speak. I feel your pain, I'm currently hacking on an Alan Marder II D. Lots of knock out marks, some sink holes, a few misaligned mold seams, etc. But, I don't care enough about German armor to worry about accuracy. I'm just fixing the stuff that's there.

Evidently I live on the dark side of the force, as I get the dreaded red x boxes everytime I come into this thread. Are the pics in the gallery?

Finally!!!!--thanks for the AMPS link---that did the trick.
Good looking build here, love the tube. Lots of detailing going on. Keep us posted, and thanks again for the link as I've been trying to "view" the Hummel for about a week. Keep us posted.

I took a shot at this kit a year or so ago . I posed the ammo boxes open and a few other odd and end things . I then took the DML 101st Airborne D-Day set of troops ,and did a hedge row scene , guess I need to take some pics of it . You have a very nice kit going there , beats the daylights out of mine !!

This is the kit that has gotten me back into armor kits again. Looking good so far. Never realised how "off" the old kit is until I started looking through reference material.
