So I walk into the LHS, seems I had about 10min before they were going to close, and what do I find in the back where they have all the new kits?
Last one sitting on the shelf, naturally I had to have it.
Same old scheme.
Right off I noticed that there's a lot of parts molded shut, no biggie for me. Though I would have liked to have the grilles separately. Gonna have to do some surgery if you want to use PE grilles.
And all the parts for the B-4 and rails, and lots o' small fragile parts
A few PE bits and what feels like a step backwards, string for tow cables.
And Soviet Guards emblem decal
I'm liking this, though I'm not sure I want to try and remove the molded grilles. And if anyone has some info on ammo rack/ ammo placement and what not, i'd appreciate it.

I'm almost done building it now. One thing I learned too late is that the two barrel halves don't match up well, the smaller inset side drops in half a mm or so towards the muzzle and reshaping is a pain. I'd recommend shimming the muzzle end of the piece so it meets the cap properly, then just filling the gaps along the sides. Way easier than trying to bulk out the barrel when it drops in.

The RB models kit replacement barrel is fab.... This was a prototype, with just a couple built. During the war, not after.

Agreed, RB barrel is awesome EXCEPT it has rifling that is straight. Real rifling on B4 has a twist.
Also, they only built 1 in 1943-1944. The recoil was too much for the KV-1S hull to handle, so the project was discontinued.
