Hi All,
AFAIK I know there are 4 manufacturers producing metal barrels for the 2A42 machine gun. Here I'd like to introduce 3 of them. I cannot find any good drawing with correct sizes, so I cannont judge which one is the best. Here are some pictures, so you can decide which one is the most suitable for you.
All of 'em:
RB Model
Copper + aluminium
Voyager
Copper barrels, PE flash hider
Assembly
Magic
Copper
Assembly
Unpacked
The original:
Because of the BMPT-s (we have one from Meng, Zvezda and Trumpeter annouanced) the Voyager and Magic kits contain 2 barrels. Magic also has an other kit with only 1 barrel.

Thanks for taking the work of doing this comparison!
I cannot check the three ones against actual measurements either, but just using my "eyeball Mk.1" I guess I will go for the Magic barrels...
They just look a bit better for me.
RB's seem nice but the "main" barrel will ve visible inside the fire supressor -or whatever the thingy is named- and it should not be there...
Voyager ones just don´t look the part right. The PE "fire supresor/thingy" looks too thin.
That's only my opinión, anyway
Thanks again!

Hi;
There is one Manufacturer that you left out, Model Point !! There Items are hard too find but are by far the Best;! I have used them on all of my Vehicles that have the 2A42 30mm Gun, and I have compared them against the RB Item and the RB Barrel was way over scale. IMHO either the Voyager or the Magic would be the ones that would be close to being Accurate. The Muzzle Break is the Telling Point when you compare them against each other, Soga or Model35ru would be the best source for Model Point.
CHEERS; MIKE.

Hello Mike,
The only thing I found about MP 2A42 is a review from 2004. (Maybe 2 reviews). If you have that item, please feel free to post pictures here. Also would be nice to have working links for buying that barrel. Thank you in advance!

Hi Guys;
Just about the only Vehicles that Mount the 2A42 are the BMD-2, BMP-2 and now the Terminator, now I have seen the 30mm 2A42 used on other Systems. But they are Not Available in Kit Form, that is to say 1/35 scale.
Now if I mite Talk just A Lil-OT, I am Whishing that Someday Somebody will make the Havoc, and the Hokum in 1/35 scale.?? Why Not, they Make the Cobra, Hind, Loach, and A Couple of others in 35th ! And Trumpeter Made the Hind.

Resurrecting this thread to report: I have 6 of the RB Model 2A42 barrels and all of them have proper flash suppressors as they should. Not sure why this one has that "flash" on the inside. FWIW.
