Verlinden used to make a kit for the old Tamiya T-62.

You must remember that the Tamiya T-62 is closer to 1/32 scale, so any aftermarket must be specifically made for it, because if you get stuff lets say Trumpeters T-62's they most likely wont fit.

There are OLD SP Designs conversions for the Tamiya T-62, but they are OOP. Check eBay?

The best conversion set for the Tamiya is a new Trumpeter T-62 . There's so much wrong with the Tamiya kit it's not worth spending any money on in my opinion.

And this is what you can do with a trumpeter T-62

Hello everyone,

I have bought both kit and conversion set a few months ago.
I finished the painting of the engined compartment (not weathered yet), but now remains the modification of the hull.
The conversion set gives me a headhake.

pic 1 http://hpics.li/3876d4b
pic 2 http://hpics.li/4be9342
pic 3 http://hpics.li/23550a8
pic 4 http://hpics.li/5eec975
pic 5 http://hpics.li/694063b
pic 6 http://hpics.li/eb257dc

When putting the engine compartament on the lower hull, there is clear and visible an angle with the deck.

Besides by looking on pic 5 there is an other angle running from the rear upper part of the engine compartment to the lower one, made with the Tamiya's rear plate.

I have read on this forum, both TAMIYA and TRUMPETER kits where wrong by not reproducing the angle of the rear plate of the engine compartment (about 4 degrees if I remember).

But honestly I do not understand the angle shown on the deck with the conversion set.

I searched on the forum and internet some pics showing it (maybe my eyes are tired) but I have noticed the new angle on the deck nowhere. And the osprey book does not mention it. I know, I have to cut the rearest part of Tamiya's kit and replace it by the two resin parts. But that's all? No other modification needed?

Yes, there is a lot of rework for that conversion. Remember, it was made in the late 1980's, early 1990's.

I would say that yes, you need to chop up the rear and add the new resin pieces to get the engine deck lower in the hull to fit.

This link will help, go about half way down to see how he added the engine well. T-62 build with Verlinden conversion

Hello,

I am much more used to use aluminium sheets, but I would like to test brass sheet. which thickness do you usually use to for the fenders 0.12, 0.2 or 0.3mm?

Sure to raise the hackles of some folks but the long gone AEF did a pretty nice resin turret and corrected fuel cells for the Tamiya kit. I was pretty happy with them.

A looooooong time ago, MB Models did a T-62 M conversion set for the Tamiya kit.
As crude as the kit...
Not a lot of pics available then !

Chesapeake Model Designs made some turret sets as well as a wheel set for the Tamiya kit. I still have one of those sets amongst my stash, back when the Tamiya kit was all there was.
