So I've been doing some research on the 2S3 SPG since I'm planning on a build of the Trumpeter Early and Late kits. The one thing I've noticed is with the Trumpeter 2S3 late kit, is they give you a large access panel on the rear hull. Outside of an example found on a museum display, I have yet to find one in action with this large plate on the back. Does anyone have any more info on what actually separates the different production runs of this vehicle?

I've got photos of the ones at Ft. Sill and Ft. Hood. Can you post a photos of what exactly you mean? Then I'll have a look.

I'm looking at doing a Syrian and Ukrainian examples and all the photos I've seen have the rear hull like this:

Some do and some don't have the access panels on the back of the turret also.

The Trumpeter late kit has a hull like this drawing, which I've never seen outside of a vehicle in a museum.
