Hi all
As I'm a new member of this forum and a beginner in tank modeling hobby, first i want to say hallo to you all, I really admire your work.
This tank is my 2nd build ever and I would love to present it here. I know that is not perfect ant there's a lot room for improvement, but have in mind that all this is new to me and I really love it
The tank is 1/35 M48A2GA2 from Revell.
It has a "custom" camo, it's brush painted and just some dry brushing for wethering as all that I have is some paint and some brushes for now
Hope you will like it and see some potential in my work.
Cheers

Great work on the camo, I know I wasn't prepared for for a camo scheme for a while. How was the kit? Was the fit good and were there any large gaps/seams? Also, are the tracks relatively loose or tight?

Tnx
I didn't see much kits as I just started modeling but it's much better than mi first Revell kit (Bergepanther). That one had gaps on tank hull and not much detail. This one fitted ok for me, tracks not to loose as you can see from photos, love the texture on turret and hull parts. I read somewhere that this is a newer mold from Revell so it must be better. I ordered today Hetzer kit from Tamiya so I will know the difference soon

The "Berge" is actually a cross-licenced Italerie kit. Revell, Italeri and IIRC Zveda share molds and offer kits and variants of kits from each other under their own label.
But the 1:35 M48A2s are brand new molds just out in 2014.

Tnx for the info, you can definitively see the difference in those two kits. M48 also comes with a nice rubber cable to connect the reflector with turret and two thin wire aerials that are missing at this time on my model.

If this is only your second kit, you did a great job! The drybrushing brought out the texture on the turret perfectly.
The projector on the turret is probably an infrared projector. In that case the lens should be gloss black.
It might be the pictures, but it seems like the rubber tires are also drybrushed with a metallic color. If they are you could choose a dark gray for drybrushing the rubber parts. That works great.
Thanks for sharing - looking forward to see the Hetzer.

It's definitively better than my first kit, i ruined it with to much drybrushing and wrong colors, it just looks bad compared to this one. You are right about the projector, the instruction say that the lens is "night blue, gloss". I think that i will set this one on the side and come back to it after I improve my skills and get more tools and paint. It will look better for sure

Very nice!
The tracks on the left side of the tank are backwards - was it your deliberate decision to put them like that? Such things happen in reality from time to time, but usually tracks are put "the right way" on to prevent excess and uneven use.

The machine gun should be gun metal not bright silver. Otherwise nice build.

HELLO, and WELCOME!!! This is your second model? VERY NICE! Stick with it- building models is a GREAT HOBBY! Certainly better than wasting your time and money in a bar- my opinion...
Wait till you start wanting an airbrush and other specialized modelling tools! That's when your horizons will really start to expand! I also suggest that you buy yourself some "How To" modelling books and magazines- this will help you and explain many of the techniques that more experienced modellers use. There are also some very nice (And helpful!) DVDs and CD Roms out there that will help you to perfect your techniques and answer any questions that you may have as you gain more experience.
Above all: DON'T GET DISCOURAGED!!! LOOK UPON OTHER MODELLERS' COMMENTS AS ADVICE, NOT CRITICISM!!! NEVER LOOK AT A MISTAKE AS FAILURE, BUT AS A LEARNING EXPERIENCE!!! IF YOU FIND THAT YOU NEED ADVICE, NEVER HESITATE, OR FEEL EMBARRASSED TO COME TO US- Many of us will be very happy to help you!!!
What will be your next project? GOOD LUCK, and HAPPY MODELLING!!!

Thanks a lot Dennis, nice to be a part of this community
Love the modelling hobby, got my first kit as a present from my GF (as she knows i love to play WOT), and I loved it from day one. I really like the combination of relaxation and frustration this hobby has to offer
Will not get discouraged, definitely. I got here first to hear some advice and tips, so i don't look on comments as criticism. Everybody here went thru a stage o building a "2nd model ever" so it's a best place to hear some opinions
My next project is Hetzer from Tamiya (getting it tomorrow). I think it will be a nice and fun tank at this stage. Will definitely put some more time in building it than M48 (did it in 12 hrs).
Will continue to post my work here so comments are always welcome, tnx all of you for posting, it's a learning experience, as from today my tanks will never have tracks installed backwards and parts painted in wrong colors.

The projector is the "Schiessscheinwerfer" or Gunnery Spotlight. The designation was XSW-30-U build by AEG-Telefunken and used by the Leo1 and KaJaPa as well. It is a white light / near infrared system that can be switched between the two modes. Depending on the mode used I recall both clear/silver and black lenses.

Oh and: Very nice build of a nice old tank.
In weathering remember that german cold war tanks always had enough conscripts to be kept well cleaned and well painted

That sir is pretty good . I take it the tracks are the one piece rubber band ? It did not lie down on the top of the rollers .
