Hey there,
I saw a couple of images of what seems to be a BTR-70 or BTR-80 with slat armor. Does any of you know when, where and by whom have these been built and used?
I have a BTR-70 Early in my stash and was wondering if that would be a a good candidate to scratch-build a slat armor around.
Also, how would you approach building a slat armor from scratch?
Here a couple of images. FOR DISCUSSION PURPOSE ONLY:
Thanks a bunch!

Nice find, there. The slat was also used in Afghanistan by the Russians. I've photos but not the time right now to dig them out.
Good luck with the build

I've also seen pictures of Slat armour used in the current conflict in Eastern Ukraine.

A more unconventional slat armor or how to tune your BTR with your neighbor's fence:

Kazakstan uses slat,i have a couple of details if need be.
Hi Jan,
If you happen to have some close-ups of the slat and the way these are fixed to the hull, that would be really great.
Thanks a lot!
Cristian
I must ask: what's behind the OOB = RUDD thing?

Hi Cristian,
Here you go, not much but some might be useful.
And all naked
Well you know OOB is "out of the box" which translates in Dutch to basically RUDD (recht uit de doos) but looks like "rucK" which is slang and means basically something as not good,.. So long story "Straight out of the box is boring"
