Trying to finish off the inside of the building before I start on the outside, next is the rubble inside. I bought some Dasclay today to start making bricks for the rubble, the main bulk of which will be Polyfilla.

Vinnie once again your work amazes me. The only question I had was are you going to add anything to the inside of the building like furniture, etc.? I thick one nice touch would be to add a broken picture frame of the family on the wall or laying on the floor. If the rest of the diorama turns out as well as the inside of this building has, then the diorama may as well be a shrunken scene from real life. Keep us posted on any new developments.

LOL - I'm using the same wallpaper on my RMG diorama on my second floor

Looks good. I would offer this - add a dark wash to the baseboard molding. It looks to much like the floor joists and on the first floor it doesn't match the window trim.

I know this is a work in progress, so take this with a grain of salt - add washes to the edges of the broken parts. They look to clean right now in these photos.

I saw your dio. this morning and now to see this - wow what a day! You made Great progress.

Thanks Slodder. The joists do seem kind of 'light' in the pictures, but really are quite dark & dirty. It's probably because of the flash...didn't take time setting up for the pics, just quick snaps.
The window trim upstairs isn't there, it's been ripped off and is just bare plaster, again this looks quite dirty but will probably look better when the rubble on top of the wall is painted.

Don't forget that the area around the doorway is a high traffic area and the wood will have a lighter "pathway" either from people walking or a carpet runner. The wood floor should not be evenly colored

I thought about this, and found a dark wood floor to see what had happened to it. Found one at school, the area where people had walked had actually become darker, probably as a result of dirt, scratches etc.
I'll give that area a spray of Tamiya 'Smoke' to darken it just before I start putting the rubble in. I'm going to put a large rug in amongst the rubble, so I'll have to work out where that would have gone too. Forgotten about this, thanks for pointing it out Shermie!

very good work Vinnie. I have a building in my RMG dio too and I was thinking how to make the second floor. Yours is great but I am not sure about too many iron bars for a ww2 period building. just tell me I am sure and I will get that as a reference :-)

Greywolf. They're not iron bars but wooden lathe strips which were nailed to the joists and then plastered. We used to make ceilings like that years ago! There is only one iron bar and that is there to pull the gable end back into true.

Very nice Vinne.
Be careful, however, to not overdo the wallpaper tears, think in scale.
Keep it up,

Andrew

Excellent work so far. For a first dio this is absolutely wonderful stuff. I would add some pigments and some drybrushing to,sort of, blend all the parts together.

Nice work !
