Salutes to any of us that try something new, different and difficult. If I ever finish my supertree to my satisfaction, I'll post what I've estimated will have taken me over 100 hours to do...one tree.

Toni,
As to the scale issue you can always view it as a perspective shot. If the diorama is viewed from behind the figure looking towards the parachute all will look fine.
Excellent work so far !

Hi again,
I got some proper pics taken last night, hereīs some.
The figure has extra jacket made of tissue paper and white glue, helmet cover is made of wedding gown and oregano. Harnesses are from a bottle neck of Chianti, harness lock is from a scrapped 1:72 Mil-24 Hind rotor centerpiece...
I had enough reference for the equipment so every flaw is simply there due to my laziness and lack of effort.
I included a "forced perspective" shot of the base and it works quite well.
When the guy and parachute are placed on the edge, it creates a nice feeling of pulling back against the wind blow.
I may use my artistic license and use the way-too-small parachute after all...
Cheers,
Toni

Toni,
excellent figure scratching. It will be a pain to paint it, but I know it's in good hands.
The forced perspective pictures will do perfectly. I have a feeling that this will become a one of a kind masterpiece..... I even think that you're the first one to pull of a dio/vignette with a deployed parachute in it..... the pics of the completed dio will flood the modeling related internet sites, I'm sure.
Excellent !!

hi Toni,
As a devoted figure converter; i liked that very much. The figure shows you made a good research on Brit paras and turned your info to a good model work.all additions on the para are very good.the folding gun is very different,i didnt that one before. the parachute is a piece of art itself.congrats and i am eager to see the vignette done.
best regards

So - I never get tired looking at your work - wonderful stuff
Can't tell if its the photo - on the figs right arm at the bottom (lower) part of his forearm - do I see a seam? First closeup shot on your 2/5/04 post.

do I see a seam?
Slodder, thatīs the seam line of the jacket, molded in the surface.
Danny, now that you mentioned, I donīt recall seeing a diorama or vignette with opened parachute either. Itīs becoming a bad habit, always taking the most difficult route from a simple subject...
Next:
-Priming the figure, painting it.
-Painting base
-Attaching parachute
-Attaching strings
Oh yes, and the name! I think "Eagle has landed" a bit corny, besides heīs just about to get airborne again!
Title suggestions are more than welcome!

What about a simple "DEPLOYED", referring to the deployed canopy and the troops that are deployed into the battlefield after the landing ?
Another title that is in my mind is "Arnhem - The Easy Part" referring to the relatively easy landings, with very little losses they had, in comparison to the Cauldron they where in af few days later ?
and the third and final title idea was "One of Many" referring to the many men who where dropped, the many men who got killed, the many men who got wounded etc.......
Just some ideas that where in my mind when I read your reply.

Super job so far!
The forced perspective/shadow box idea is a good one, and I like how you've handled it so far.
What's your base figure? I missed that in reading through here so far.
Cheers
Andy

The Eagle has landed - where is Danny???
Wasn't that the name of a movie about the Germans trying to assassinate Churchill?
How about - "Glad I'm in Wave One" Didn't wave to get cut appart by the waiting Germans.
Seriously, "The End is near." Could play off the natives believing the British would save the day, or that they would be ultimately driven off.

herberta,
itīs a DML 1:16 Red Devil paratrooper figure. I think itīs out of production now...
Price is as low as the detail but itīs a nice figure to start from. Even the pose was great for my purpose!
Thanks for the title suggestions! I think I will include a subcaption in the name plate "Market Garden 1944" or similar. I had a few wind-related titles in my mind, like "Gone with the wind", "Blowing in the wind" or something.
Weīll see.
Or...how about "Danny is grounded"? #:-)
