If I'm correct the Chinese Type-59 is basically a T-54 not a T-55.
So it shouldn't be a big deal to backdate the Tamiya kit.

Type 59 as in WoT? Different from most conversions available which build Iraqi Type-59's.

Type-59 is a copy of the T-54B, generally.

Such assessments are arguably matters of opinion rather than fact, wouldn't you say? And everyone is entitled to their opinion (in my opinion, anyway).

Your opinion may be valid

Again, it really depends on WHAT you are trying to represent. The Type-59 in WoT, which I will try to build some day for giggles, is not what we are most used to seeing, which is the Iraqi version with the bar-armor and such. It will take two totally different approaches to build either vehicle, which are both nominally called a Type-59. And there are other options than just those two I have mentioned.

So knowing what you want to replicate is the first, most important step.

I guess now you could just wait for the Takom T69 II or the T54 that's just been announced!
