Hi all,
I came across pictures of what is looking like a Belgian Leo1A5 with a similar add-on armor as on the Canadian C2. It only covered the turret sides and the hull glacis.
The pictures were shot at the museum of Kapellen.
Does anyone know the exact denomination of this Leo?
I'll try to post pics later.

Thanks Nico,
it is the same Leo. If I understand ocrrectly, it was a single prototype.
I guess no official denomination was given.

Unofficially, it was called 1A6BE though,as you say it was just a trial. I'm pretty sure the MEXAS panels were just mild steel boxes. The tank does still exist, though tracking it down after Kapellen closed has proved difficult. There was speculation at the time that a second tank was fitted, but it was probably converted back leaving just this one.

We had a Canadian C2 fitted with a modified version of the turret armour, but the grenade launchers moved up mid way on the MEXAS armour.
