Caen -Canadian Armor Firefly
Can someone tell me what the correct markings are for a Canadian firefly fighting in Caen.
How were the Canadian tanks numbered? What Armored regiment was in Caen? The 4th Canadian Armored?

The 2nd Armoured Brigade was in the Caen area which wiki will give more info of it's makeup. Markings were fairly generic which the armoured acorn has profiles of. If I'm not mistaken, that early after landing, V's would have outnumbered the Vc's in the units.

It kind if depends on what you mean by "in Caen", as the battle for that city covered a wide area and over a month.
Do you mean the attack on the city itself (Operation Charnwood)?
Cheers

The Regiments you are looking for are the Sherbrooke Fusiliers and the 1st Hussars.
They were the two Canadian Armoured Regiments that were involved in supporting the Canadian Infantry assaults into Caen and subsequently repelling German armoured counter attacks from SS Panthers and Tigers.
Do some searches based on that information and you should find what you are looking for. There's plenty of book reference material available too.
Archer Fine Transfers makes formation markings for the 2nd Armoured Brigade.
The Fireflys were limited to one per Troop. Images from the Normandy breakout usually show limited kit carried on the tanks and sometimes some additional short lengths of track on the glacis plate to increase protection. This was the case with both the Fusiliers and Hussars.
I've seen images of the Sherbrooke Fusiliers Fireflys in Normandy with scrim camouflage added and the fender extensions still intact.
The info is out there...just take the time to do the research...it does the mind good.
