...was a Nichimo?

Nichimo. They made great 1/48 aircraft but their tanks and figures were awful - least the ones I had. Except for one, their 1/35 M4A1 cast-hull Sherman. I've read how it has so many shortcomings but back in the 1970s, it was the only "round hull" out there. Here's a detailed post about to: https://armorama.kitmaker.net/forums/32854&page=1

That said, the worst kits I recall are the Nichimo Sd.Kfz. 251 (looked horrible but buildable) and a Eastern bloc model of a Yak-3. Both were so bad I threw them away. The Yak looked good but the fit - horrendous. IIRC, one fuselage half was a full 2mm too small on all sides for the other.

The other "worst" kit I had was a limited-run cottage industry model by Meikraft. I rated the kit as 20% although I now have a better appreciation of the brand after reading about it from a member who knew the man (literally a one-man operation by a man who loved models and wanted to make subjects no one else had touched). As much as I appreciate Meikraft for that, I still think that the kit would require 800% more effort than I would expect anybody would want to put into it. Unless the builder was a "because I can" builder.

Worst kit? This thing:

Fit was approximate. The geometry was non-euclidean, almost like a vehicle designed by H. P. Lovecraft.

The MW UAZ-469 is a truly wretched kit. If any two parts fit together properly, then it was a mistake of the mold-cutter. As Kurt Laughlin and others tried to do, I attempted to power through one. Three of the four doors fit properly, but the fourth wasn't even close. The hood was too short; I used Evergreen Styrene to lengthen it so that it would at least match the front. The suspension and drive-line only vaguely fit together; more parts that simply refused to fit together. The instructions looked like something a Kindergartner did in art class.

I probably got about 75% done with mine before sending it to the circular filing cabinet. Life was just too short to spend battling that "kit". The final straw was when Trumpeter released their vastly superior kit.
