Do they have a lot of vendors selling kits? The last couple of years I've been to Danbury and the number is low single digits.

Says their 100 vendor table are sold out. "Low single digits", do you mean like 5 or less ?

I mean like three, though some pricey but interesting aftermarket, and a $125 Cyber Hobby King Tiger. The Poughkeepsie show usually has one credible "vendor" and a few with mostly oddball kits. The two shows are once a year and only three weeks apart. The last remaining LHS has an inventory of 1-35 kits, not counting figures, that probably peaks at 6-8, with maybe three really up to date. It's just nice to browse real merchandise instead of only being able to online.

Biggest issue with Mosquitcon (well I've run into this) that it seems like the only models there are reject models from the 1980s...christ I saw Testors kits with Top Gun box art there

To be fair, the Armorcon (Danbury) vendor room fills 80 tables with ALL armor products and related items. There are 3 to 5 vendors who sell only kits, but each brings 200-500 kits, so the selection and price competition is great. The rest of the 10 - 20 vendors sell resin, photoetch, tracks, aftermarket, tools, paints, airbrushes, books, diorama products, and supplies. The 80 tables are jam packed with deals and great stuff.

I think Saturday. My biggest gripe is I couldn't find a single kit of four on my A list, nor a single kit of six on my B list, and only two from my C list (none were really obscure kits). The vendor who usually shows up in Poughkeepsie (NY) with a lot of Dragon and other 1-35 was scheduled but a no-show. Wayne is a bit of a drive and it would take some schedule juggling, so I want it to be worth it.

I TRIED going to this show...Got there at 1 PM.. Walked in with my wife, 3 year old son, and 1 year old daughter in a stroller. Was "greeted" by a big hefty tub of a man with white hair and a beard. "what are you lookin for" was his greeting. I said Im just lookin where to pay the fee. He replies quite rudely, " The shows over and we dont want you bringing that carriage in there anyway, theres thousands of dollars worth of models in there and we dont want your little kids running around breaking them. If you want to go into the vendors area and look around go ahead." My wife replied, " yea we know.. we go to about 3 shows a year we know how they work". Mr Staypuft walked away, and we went into the vendors area for a very quick once over. My son was upset over not being able to see the models and decided he had had enough, which put me in an even less pleasant mood than the greeting I have previously spoken of. Turned right back around and left. Packed the family back up and went elsewhere. Too bad too, We drove from Massachusetts to NJ to see this show as the first leg of our vacation. Not the way I wanted to start, but the grumpy gus with the presidents badge on (he was apparently the chapter president) cured me of spending any of the $200 dollars burning a hole in my pocket OR straight out offering to pay the 10 dollar walk in fee. Went back to the car, RE-READ their flyer which clearly states the show was from 9-5, and decided never to waste my time again. I have dealt with jerks all my life, but to come to a show, where I meet dozens of FRIENDS from all over the northeast, and be treated like some dreg off the street instead of a paying customer or god forbid MAYBE someone interested in GETTING INTO the hobby just blew it totally for me. Please Chapter members, remember that YOU represent our hobby. First impressions are lasting impressions, and ones you will have a hard time getting back if done wrong. I have never had this kind of demeaning behavior at an AMPS show. The people are always courteous and polite, and encouraging to everyone I have ever had contact with. Perhaps my IPMS membership is wasted money.

Remember, every village (or club) has it's idiot. Doesn't mean the village isn't worth a visit. But, I can understand how you feel, some idiots leave a lasting impression. Al
