It seems there are a number of Chinese made models specifically for the domestic market. What do they typically buy? Then again, what do they teach in Chinese schools? I read that every Chinese history book starts with "In 1949..."

Odd questions I am seeing here. Why are you asking them btw for the sake of discussion?
I don't know specifically the Chinese market preference but for the Asian market in general (Japan being the biggest market, South Korea, China, then Taiwan), the WWII German model kits are the most popular. Then modern and the U.S. WWII about the same popularity.

Well I can't comment on what they buy on the Chinese market but they pretty much teach the same subjects the world over. I do know that do teach English to a high level.
However the next time I speak to my son I can ask him to find out.

I suppose it's a matter of "Do other nations' modelers like the same subjects we do or are there differences?" I wondered if Chinese like their own military or not.

I suppose the other question is what do Germans do.

Invade France at least once every fifty or so years. So far, they're twenty years behind schedule.

I would guess that Europe is big on WWII and Modern armor, but is there much of anything else?

Interesting article quite weird and answer is also quite simple. As we know AFV Club, Dragon, HobbyBoss, Meng, Takom, Trumpeter, GWH, are model brands in China, the question itself is the answer. So...Do you know the answer now?

Well, there's the Roman-Parthian War of 161-166. Unfortunately, aftermarket accessories for ballistas and siege towers are pretty sparse.

And also talking about what Chinese study in school? First we need to make a correction about how to study the history: ancient history of China, modern and contemporary history of both China and the World. The rest is quite the same as the rest of the world study: Math( in senior school you have to study Solid geometry), physics, chemistry, biology, and English(also in south part you can chose other language), Chinese literature. :_ in fact I really should ignore this topic but since that your question sounds....sincerely....why not....

Thanks! Surprisingly I hardly see any Chinese figures on the market, unless they don't get sold outside of China. Or for that matter Japanese figures, unless they'd be unpopular in China.

Hard to say. My sister once had a Basset Hound who presumably never left the USA.

A local hobbystore (Udisco) has a few sets of these figures, including the female PLA. I think they are not popular because all the figures have the same, or similar, pose. And they are all marching in parade - boring!

Actually, it is very common in Asia (Japan, China, and the Koreas, particularly) to teach a completely different version of history than what many of us in the West take for granted as truth. I think that is the essence of Tom's observation.

I just noticed an unintentional pun in the word "lies" in my above, as "lies" can be taken two ways, and both making sense in this context!

I have not purchased or know of the quality of these figures but I thought I post this link for some resin figures of WW2,
Vietnam and modern eras. I stumbled on these searching thru Ali Express.
