Looking at an image of the Asuka booth at the Japan Hobby Show, think the JGSDF Type 74 new from them.

Yes, and quite a few other new things from ASUKA; at least a half-dozen US Shermans, what appears to be a VK.-something-or-other Medium Panzer prototype test vehicle with a FULL Interior, (I believe TRUMPETER did one WITHOUT the Interior), new Figure sets, Equipment and Stowage sets, an early and late Pz.Kpfw.II Ausf.L "Luchs", and quite a few more things.

HOBBY BOSS is showing a test-shot of the German WWII M35 12-wheeled Armored Car (both Krupp and Daimler versions are in the works) plus a few other juicy new kits-

These are shown in Hyperscale's "What's New" segments for May 14 and 15, 2016, and you should be able to see videos of some really great stuff coming in 2016; Aircraft models are shown in the May, 14 segment, and Military models are shown in the May, 15 segment. It's really worth your while to take a look...

I would say so. I've seen an update kit like this before, can't remember where, but it also had side skirts.

Well, I was excited about a "new" Type 74 until I read this. I guess I'll just have to be happy with my old one.

An update to the old Tamiya Type 74 would not be remiss, but it looks like it still uses the old Tamiya Rubber band tracks. Of all the kits out there, why oh why didn't they throw in a MK set of workables??? That would have made me jump at the kit!

Throwing in a set of MK tracks still wouldn't get me to bite. I would prefer a fresh new kit even if I had to get the MK tracks, or preferably Fruils on my own.
