Hello to all.

I am currently in process with my model – Trumpeter Ural-4320 truck with aftermarket:

Trumpeter #01014 Russian BM-21 Grad late version
Real Model #RM35052 House body for Ural 4320
Miniarm #35086 Wheel set Kama for Ural truck
North Star Models #NS35064 Resin masks for headlights

Trumpeter kit is very nice, and I am leaving the launcher parts for my next projects. Miniarm wheels are excellent, highly recommended. Real Model resin requires much work, I would recommend it to advanced modelers only.

The vehicle I am modeling is a diesel generator carrier (shelter truck) as part of RPMK-1 Ylyubka (Smile) radiolocation meteorological complex, which in turn is a part of RSZO 9K58 Smerch (Whirlwind) heavy rocket launcher system.

RPMK-1 purpose is probing of humidity, wind and temperature parameters prior to gunnery or rocket launch. It is used with artillery, rocket launcher and chemical protection units. RPMK-1 is an automated mobile complex with elements of artificial intelligence.

My vehicle is Ural-43203 carrying 8 kW AD8 diesel generator in a KUNG K-1.4320 shelter. A KUNG is a “unified body of normalized dimensions”. It features composite wooden-metal construction of thermal shielded panels. A KUNG is actually an autonomous winter house on a truck, with all necessities, air filter system, heater etc. There are numerous KUNG modifications for different trucks, used as command posts, housing for different electronic equipment, mobile workshops, med posts, field kitchens etc. K-1.4320 is designed for Ural and Kamaz trucks.

This model is a pair model to my MENG 9A52-2 Smerch rocket launcher model currently in progress, but in different camo. My shelter truck is wearing “middle-eastern” export camo released at RAE-2013 expo, and my Smerch launcher will be wearing camo from MVSV-2008 expo.

Here are the prototypes.

This is a late (current) production Ural-4320. Features:
–lifted cab
–long hood with winch
–external engine air filter on right fender
–additional mudguards
–wide wheels with KAMA tyres (as opposed to early Soviet narrow wheels)
This truck is painted overall in dark green with semi-gloss black frame and wheels, which is very common with the Russian army today (for example, most vehicles deployed in Syria are painted this way).

This truck features Soviet-type narrow wheels (still produced), short hood and another common camo.
