Hello, I ran across this photo:
I have a few questions, first, the commanders cupola looks like the sides are vertical, if in fact I am not mistaken, then can someone identify what version of T-55 this is, and is it available in kit or conversion in 1/35 scale?
also does anyone have more detailed images or drawings of how the kpvt machine gun is mounted? It looks to me like that is just a dshk mount, but I can't see how the rear of the gun is attached. Can someone more familiar with that mount make a more knowlegable assessment for me?
This seems like it would be the perfect opportunity to use one of the guns from the Meng AA weapons kit for something different.
Thanks for your time - John

That's not a T-55 cupola IMO. Almost looks like one from a T-34/85. The mount looks like a standard DShK mount with a homebrew mount for the KPVT, no clue how they did it.

I don't know, the welds on the cupola look to clean to me to be anything but a factory job, although I am not that familiar with the t-55, hence the question. But I agree with you about the mount, I would just like a side view. so I could do the most realistic representation possible.

Here's another photo I just found that looks like the same style cupola, but it is a news photo, with no info on the actual tank

I would wait and see if more images come from whatever footage the cameraman is shooting.
Just a wild guess, could it be one of the radiologically protected cupolas with the shielding missing?

If you do take the time to look at the commanders cupola closely,it seems to be one of the early ones modified to carry an anti aircraft gun.

Thanks for the input guys! Jason, I have been looking for photos of early t-55s, but haven't found any photos that resemble this style cupola, could you provide me with any more info to help my search?
