Good article and video.

The video's commentator made a mistake when he said that the Stryker's 30mm gun is the same one used on the Bradley...that is unless the Bradley received its 30mm autocannon turret upgrade too.

The ready-to-fire round inventory isn't great, but 30mm is better armament than 12.7mm and 40mm grenades.

I'm not quite sure what the article meant that half of the Strykers will receive Javelins. Aren't Javelins already stowed inside the ICV Strykers? Or unless the author meant that the Javelin Strykers will have an external Javelin ATGM launcher mount on the roof.

Hi Peter,

my understanding is it's a mount to enable it to be fired from under armour (as much as that is on a Stryker lol). There's also been various talk about an improved Javelin, better seeker & warhead, mid course guidance correction etc as a TOW2 replacement ....

I think the newer CROWS II allows the mounting of Javelin on the side along with the primary weapon, be it M2HB or MK-19. Perhaps that's what the Army has in mind.

Great article, thanks for that, Peter.

Is that Aussie camouflage I see? And what is to "know down walls"?, first paragraph.

I noted that the narrator said the gun would be similar to the gun on the Bradley, not the same gun as the Bradley. That doesn't look like a drop-in mod. The cabin is taller and will probably mean less troops. I guess having a real AP capability would be worth it. The camo does look a lot like the Aussie camo. I guess that is how Gen Dynamics paints their demo vehicles. I didn't see any Army markings, so this must have been an official demo for Army brass. With this being in the news recently, the video is very relevant. Looks like Trumpeter will have to rush a model of it into our hands now!

Regards,

Eric

Wonder how Dragons's making out with that Stryker that they advertised about 10 years ago?

It's a huge vehicle for something that's not a tank, not an APC / IFV, having less dismounts. Wouldn't it just be cheaper & easier to upgrade the Bradley vehicle. The Stryker is an interim vehicle, after all.

Kylie,

That was the GDLS/Thales offering for the ASLAV replacement project, LAND 400 Phase 2 as the LAV 6.0 (CRV), hence the Aussie camouflage.

They found out Thursday just gone that they failed to make the cut for the next round.

Slightly different role for the Stryker compared to a Brad. I'm glad they are finally looking to up-arm it. It was barely adequate for the streets of Iraq. The Army looked at the outcome of the fighting in Ukraine and realized the vehicle was at a big disadvantage.

Is it true that the KMW Boxer/lance and the Patria AMV are the remaining contenders for the Land 400 project?

H.-H.,

For phase 2 of Land 400, yes, just the AMV35 & the Boxer CRV (Lance turret).

Phase 3 will be a tracked solution. I think the downselect will be Lynx KF41 & CV9035.

Looking at pics of the AMV 35, could this be build by kitbashing IBG`s Rosomak and Hobbyboss CV9035 turret? would like to see more pics of both conteders.
