I am about to start Dragons 6311 Elefant. Does anyone know if this TD should have solid or hollow guide horns?
I did some research and found 2 conflicting images.
The Ferdinand at the Kubinka museum shows solid horns while the Elefant at the old U.S. Army Ordnance Museum shows hollow horns.
Which is correct?
Are the hollow guide horns unique or were all the Ferdies fitted with them when they were upgraded to Elefants? The only info I could find on the upgrade concerned the hull i.e. bow MG and cupola etc, nothing on the tracks.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Rory

I can't find my History of the 653rd, but I can't find any pictures that show a hollow guide horn on the Ferdinand/Elefant. Can some one post a picture?
Prototype had guide horns on every link, production was every other link. Since, the production vehicles had an odd number of links two links with guide horns would be found next to one another if the "correct" track tension was used.

Hard to tell if that Elefant has hollow guide horns.
If they are solid I am golden. I realllllly dont want to spend the money on Fruil tracks as the magic tracks are pretty good.

There does seem to be a small triangular hole in the guide horns, but that is the only Elefant that I have ever seen with them.

The top Fedie has the track too tight and the next pair is too loose. Track sag should touch the center road wheels.
