Do you think Tamiya might be doing a few Korean War releases? Say their M4A3E8 with the other tracks to coincide with a Korean War M40?

By the way there was more than one M40/M43 that served in World War II. They readily switched the tubes back and forth between the 155 and 8 inch because they wanted weight of shell over range.

Thanks for the M40/M43 info!

Yes, per Hunnicutt both pilot models were sent to Europe. The 8 inch tube on the T89 was replaced with a 155 barrel by the 991st FAB to match all their other guns making it a T83. They put the 8 inch back on later. I like the look of the stubby gun on the T89 (M43). Hunnicutt has a very brief account of the T83 and T89, and says only the 2 pilot models made it to Europe. It is possible more were sent over before the war ended. Hunnicutt is not always 100%.

They say it'll be shown on a hobby show. The nearest show begins on September 23rd, so we'll see. It is evident they've finally ventured into development of Sherman-based vehicles...A new T-34 from them would be a welcome release too.

If TAMIYA does do an "all-new" T-34, I'll be on line to buy one. Hmm- different versions would be nice...

Going by the recent release by Tamiya, a T-34 (hopefully series) wouldn't be to remote an expectation (think Miniart will be releasing theirs after their SU series).

They (Tamiya) seem to be going through their back catalog of really old kits and re-tooling them, have a feeling that in the next few years we will see a few Sherman versions, the Jackson being one, possibly a M4A1 HVSS, an M2 gun (they did this and the M4A1 in 1/21 scale), variants of the PzIV (Stug IV) and Panther (A).

Hopefully they will do re-do things like their Centurion III and Saladin as well

I think we all should be very cautious of our expectations regarding Tamiya. Please bear in mind they are a fairly large company in the scheme of things and only a small portion of their yearly corporate effort is directed towards armor. They offer a highly diversified line of products for a very diversified worldwide audience.

Compare this to the highly un-integrated Chinese firms who are in a mad rush to collect your money for a kit you don't really want, of quality you don't really like for a price you don't really want to pay.

Also pay very close attention to the price of the M40 when it arrives. The U.S. equivalent price of the M10 is $38.00.
