Hi all, I found this fantastic picture on the brilliant wwiiafterwwii site:
https://wwiiafterwwii.wordpress.com/2015/09/06/t-34-in-angola-1970s-1980s/
Any ideas of what model/factory number this would be and what the best 1/35 model out there would be? I'm erring towards the AFV Model kits due to their full interior, which should allow for the empty engine bay...

The hull at least is Krasnoye Sormovo, Factory 112. BTW, it's actually "T-34" with a dash. ;-)

there are a couple of things that needed to be pointed out first, the mounts for the external fuel pump and starfish road wheels show this is an postwar upgraded model.

Interesting subject. This is not a merely post war upgraded version of Zavod 112 model but a complex mixtures of 1944, 1945 and post war aspects. It shows us that why dealing Zavod 112 model is so difficult. Thank you for sharing.

Interesting read, thanks a lot! I wish there was a styrene version of the Ratel-90...(Takom...? Would make a nice companion to the G-6...).
I wonder what's the story behind that captured Olifant...

Three were lost in a minefield during the battle for Cuito Canavale in 1987, of which the cuban/angolan forces managed to salvage one. The other two are still there btw.

It's strange the South Africans didn't destroy them after they've got stranded...

They tried with some very intense artillery barrages to destroy them, which might be the reason why only one was eventually recovered, or atleast only partially so.
