Hi all,
I'm currently building the AAV-R7A1 from HB and would like to get some pics of the interior to guess which colors I should use to paint it. HB give no indication.
I'm mainly interested in the rear compartment as I guess the driver one is identical to the basic AAV.
I have the book by David Harper but more pics can't do anyharm.
TIA
Olivier

No pics to hand,
but your favourite sea foam Green (Tasmiya Interior Green?) for interior, Floor Forest Green, with aluminium wear on the strips on the floor.
The basic AAV kit is missing an orange ventilator hose
Don't forget the broom! or seat covers, rope & tool stowage, Slave leads or visible welds

Seafoam Green it is. Below is a ROC (Tiawan) vehicle, but it is the same as the US version.

I really enjoyed the AAVP I built, with the exception of the 180 parts per track.
One pack of tracks were flash-free, clipped together well, but would fall apart with handling, the other pack, nearly every track needed flash removal esp. the 'nub' of the hinge, & careful assembly, trying to emulate the track sag.
Sadly in the repair shop as it didn't travel to shows well.

The interior colors are the same as the P7 and C7, that pale green / seafoam green. To me, the nearest match is Testor’s Pale Green or Ammo of Mig’s APC Interior Green (MIG-082). Both of which I mix with white, gray and/or a brighter green depending how I want to cast shadows or show heavy wear on the interior.
While working on my hybrid P7 I’ve been finding all sorts of small “issues” with the kit. The driver’s station is a bit out of whack. The display panel should not lay flat as provided/indicated. It should be more upright. The throttle/gear selector is also placed too high. It should be lowered to a point where it sits below the upright display panel and just above the driver position fire extinguisher. A bigger issue I think, and one I am trying to draw up is the undersized seats. I think they are only about half the size they should be. I’m trying to either get someone to go out and measure an actual for me, or am trying to coordinate a trip where I can go measure it myself.
I don’t have the R7 kit but am guessing Hobby Boss didn’t bother with discriminating between variants, as they didn’t bother too much between the P7 and P7A1 kits. There should not be a bow plane control handle on the R7, it would be on the interior port bulkhead forward of the comm box. Shave that right off if it’s there.
I dug through my pics with no luck. The R7 was the mech’s ride & responsibility. I didn’t spend much time on or around the R7s, they were mostly rear area ops kinda stuff.
I’ll shoot you a DM that may be of more help to you.

I prefer Tamiya SKY (XF21) since it is a little more pale and looks more correct to me.
The Testors Model Master Pale Green (FS34227) looks too bright to me.
If you are looking for a spray option, Krylon has Pistachio in a spray can that is an exact match for Seafoam Green. I have used it as touchup on actual AFV interiors (M981A3, M577A3/M1068A4, and BFIST) and it is a perfect match.

Thanks for the inputs. I have XF-21 Sky in my stock and had already used it for my LVTP-7A1. So I'll go with thisref.
My main issue is to find out which colors are painted the various details: brackets, hoses, floor, radio switch boxes and so on...

Olivier,
I have prints of photos I took of the older version in the 90s, as well as books at home.
If you're still stuck in three week time send me a PM reminder and I'll see what I can do.
I'm in vacation in France away from my refs...
Cheers,
Christophe

So I guess Daniel's pics would help, even if the pictured Amtrac is not the Recovery version (...providing you don't know them already )

In case of doubt regarding some details, just hide them under gear
On a side note, Mouse House paint range includes FS 24533 Seafoam Green :

Excellent piece of advice
THanks for the link.
Christophe, don't worry. I will paint the interior soon with whatever ref material I can find. Enjoy your holidays!
