Thanks for the tip.
Here are some pictures of the tracks.
The tracks are now in place and the side panels too. I'm now struggling the shape the PE exhaust protection. The brass is so stiff that it is a real pain. Of course, I forgot to anneal the part before starting

More pictures and probably the last of the building phase.
The first one shows how the winch prevents the hatch to open.
I added a bracket which helps guide the cable thanks to a shackle.
I also put the spare links at the right place unlike what HB states in the instructions. Two links are necessary and fortunately you got them in the box.
Here it is. The ramp will be temporarily attached closed during the painting and open when it's done.

Very nice looking build Oliver. In fact you have inspired me to get one for these although perhaps not the recovery version. Anxious to see the beastie with some paint on it.

Ahhhhh ..... now we are getting somewhere !
Looking really good !
I always admire the guys who glue all the tools etc, on their kits ... adding some extra thrills to their work during painting
Looking forward to further updates on this one ...
Cheers

Thanks guys!
I don't know if I have special skills to solve problem but I try to do my best
Unfortunately, HB made some huge mistakes which can't be solved without the appropriate documents that I hadn't checked prior assembling my model. The winch and the cable guide at the front are ill-located. Some details must not be glued where HB tells.
The AAVR is not really well covered in terms of ref pictures on the internet.
I found that Dave Harper's book is a great reference even though more pictures wouldn't have hurt.
Next pictures should show this Tuna boat with some paint on it.
Thank you all for following the build.
Christopher, I'm usually leaving the tools apart. I just wanted some change for once.

Might be a little late for this but have you seen this Tankograd American Special No. 3016?

As a note, this issue covers the variants of the LVT-7/AAV-7 family, but has little or no detail pics. The only hekpful details come from a tour of duty when the publisher served with SFOR in the 1990`s.

Hi all
after a long break due to family occupation, I have resumed working on the interior. I added some accessories from various origins.
The basic NATO green has been applied too.
Next step will be the camouflage. I compared both Tamiya and HB instructions and found their camo scheme were different. Which one is correct? I don't know, I guess I'll have to check on my ref pictures before spraying the brown and black patches.

The camo is not finished but quite close. HB has omitted some black patches as I noticed on ref pictures. So I need to add them.
The tools and accessories have been hastily painted to get an idea of the final result.

Hi all
here are some pictures of the interior quite done. I still have to glue the vision blocks after I have cut them to the proper shape. I will probably add some items useful to a maintenance crew.
The dry test fit of the roof onto the hull proved to be really painful. Some bad times are ahead I fear.
Olivier
NIIIICE! The color of your Interior seems to have come out better in this set of photos- much closer to the real thing- Did you change your lighting for this set of photos?

Dennis, yes I changed the light settings. The first time I made hasty pictures with a yellow bulb. Today I used a white light.
If you intend to build this kit, take note that there are some details wrong and others missing on the exterior as well as inside. The last details I needed to fix were the hatch handles. HB has inverted the interior and exterior handles. So I cut the 4 of them and glue them appropriately.
I just noticed that an antenna base is missing at the rear left corner of the hull. There should be two different bases.
Dustin, thanks for the comment but I don't think this camo deserves so much praise

Thank you all for the kind comments.
I started the weathering today while my grand-children are having a nap. There is some more job to do but it turns well so far. Of course the ramp will be lowered when the weathering is done.
Dennis,
as references, I used the book by Dave Harper and a couple of pictures provided by Daniel Attilio that he shares here :
Daniel's AAV7 albums

Now the ramp is open. The cable has been represented by a bit of piano string to get a correct tension.
The white handle on the right roof hatch is a replacement for the original one which was lost in the 5th dimension
I just need to add the antennas and I will call this one done.
