Hi all,

i managed to finished this very old build. A DML Panther aus D. Bought the kit in 2002 when it was first released together with Gum-ka PE set for the grille. I finished building this kit way back then. However, early this year when i did some housekeeping , i found the kit laying in the box (naked without paint job)..so i give it a fresh start (after i fedup with Takom Flak zwirling)..
Basically i build this OOB with only addition of the gumka PE set.

I painted with mr.hobby paints... the on board equipment are painted with vallejo.
chipping are done with vallejo and sponge.
Added vertical streaking with AK products.
Other effect were done with Tamiya 'make-up' set.

here it goes...

thanks for looking

Excellent job, but I do I have one niggle, I question that the Germans would use a bright red on the exterior fire extinguisher thus nullifying the camouflage.

Thank you for sharing!

You wouldn't notice the Red Fire Extinguisher "in the field" after a few minutes of driving a Tank around, even on a relatively clean road- In an actual combat scenario of driving said Tank around in an open field, there would have been dust, dirt, and mud accumulated nearly everywhere on the outside of the vehicle. This general mess would have been kicked up by the maneuvering of the Tank; Tracks throw up a lot of dust, dirt and mud in the field, even when NOT engaged in combat...

I wouldn't be so concerned about a relatively small Red Fire Extinguisher- You'd notice the Tank itself waaaay before you would even notice that it was carrying a Red Fire Extinguisher...

If the enemy posseses optics precise enough to spot out individual tools on a tank at late war combat ranges, then no camo pattern is going to help concealment

thanks guys for your comments...

regarding the red FE... well, over a decade ago i read on the internet (*cant recall where) ..there were some debates over the color of german FE.... IIRC the debates also came out with no concrete or definite color...some agreed (including me) that the german painted it with the hull color (either dark yellow or dark grey).... but there were also evident of the captured panzers that shown red FE...

even i think i saw in the tony green modelling panzers book that the FE is also painted red...

normally i would paint FE with the hull color but for this build i thought to give a try on the red FE...

i agreed with Dennis that if u can spot the red FE in a distance, u r too late...u will spot the tank!! haha

well guys, thanks... at the end of the day, im having fun...
