I'm going to be building Trumpeter's M1129 Stryker mortar carrier w/interior for the 750+ campaign (When it is approved) and I understand the color of the interior is white.. but my question is for scratches and stuff.. what's underneath the white? Is it aluminum(ish) like the M113.. or is this primed with a different color?

The hull is made of aluminum alloy, with many of the interior pieces being steel and aluminum. The paint is very rugged and doesn't scratch/chip easily though. On the vehicles I have seen, they are still pretty much all white w/out many scratches or chips on the interior.

Thanks, Gino... that'll make my job easier

By the way, anyone know which Tamiya or Mr Hobby green would be good for a Stryker?

This mortar carrier variant.. it has the full interior. Parts count according to the box is 820+, so I'm going to do it for the 750+ campaign when it is approved.

Very nice! I've still got to pick up one of those. I need that one and the NBC variant and then I'll have them all waiting their turn.

I've only built the mobile gun system variant.

Good luck! Be sure to post lots of pics!

The hull is made of aluminum alloy

Not sure where you got this info, but sorry to say Nope.

The Stryker's hull is constructed from high-hardness steel .

Hmm, ok, I had assumed they were made out of allum alloy like an M113 to save on weight. I guess they are all steel. Either way, they don't chip nor scratch much due to the quality of the paint.

Anthony is correct.

On a different note, for those who are interested, they named the Stryker after two men who were killed in action and received the Medal of Honor. One during WW2 and one during the Vietnam War. Both men had the last name Stryker. I read their Medal of Honor citations. Amazing is what comes to mind.

Are all versions of the Stryker interior white? No more sea foam green?

Yes, all Stryker variants have semi-gloss white interiors. Not sure why, but they do.

Is it an "obvious" semi gloss white, or can I use flat white?

How would you get semi gloss white, by the way? Mixing flat and gloss.. or using a clear coat?

I like the interior to have a little bit of a shine to it, but you can be the judge.

I use flat paints, then a semi-gloss clear coat.

I'll have to experiment with that a little before painting the actual interior.

Semi gloss is also what is sometimes called satin coat, right?

Semi gloss and satin are two different finishes.

I always thought satin was just another name for semi gloss... thanks for clearing that up... So, I need to look for semi gloss clear coat.

Is this the official box art? Why is there a mech in the background?

If I remember correctly, when it was released, the guys said that they showed one of these Strykers in one of the Transformer films.. can't remember which part it was.

Hisham, my walkaround on Primeportal:

should be helpful with the paint job.

Thanks a lot, Hans-Hermann... this will be very helpful indeed. I want to try and gather as much as I can on this vehicle before the campaign starts.
