I know the cargo M35 2.5 ton 6x6 had a deep after fording kit (snorkel) available, but I was wondering is the fuel tanker version (M49 series) could ford or was it maybe excluded due to the fuel tank stuff (fuel lighter than water, air vents, many valves and pumps).
I'm wanting to do a USMC version and wondered if I could scratch the snorkel or would it be out of place on that truck.

I may have answered my own question... Found an army TM with the fording kit install instruction, it says for "all" models of the m44 series (aka deuce and a half).
Is there any confirmation the USMC used it? Also - TM shows the main part (the snorkel) to be a flexible ribbed tube, but I've seen online picks of m35 in private ownership with a rigid, metal tube. If it's like the M151 1/4 ton, the ribbed hose was early and metal was soon replacing it. Any USMC pics of this set up?

Here's the solid tube version.. (different than then one in the TM, Surprise!)
Here's the old style, but can't tell if the side panel HAS to be left off or if that was just a lazy version of having to route the hose through it.
