Hi Folks. I am doing another Tamiya LRDG chev conversion this time into a 3 ton fuel tanker.
I have started altering the body and installing a motor and have lengthened the chassis by 19mm to make the 160inch wheelbase model. Tamiya GMC motor has been added to the chev sump provided with the chev kit and Tamiya GMC wheels were altered to take the brake drums from the chev as well. Aber PE checkerplate has been used on the running boards.
more pics can be found here https://armorama.kitmaker.net/photos/showgallery.php?cat=12566&ppuser=&password=&page=1
any comments welcome.
Tread thanks for the kit mate

Ron they also did not come out with a box section chassis but rather a 'C' section one. #:-)
it was a delema for me but as it will not be seen once the body is built I decided to strengthen it that way.

Howdy 'Roo,
Look's to be another great project! I just LOVE these ' variants'!! And your projects are always enjoyable for me. Checking your 'in-progress' posts are like being in a candy store.
Do have some Q's for ya though. What wheels did you use for this conversion, those new resin one's of yours? Because they are obviously not the ones that come with the LRDG!
Also, what do you plan on using for the fuel tank itself? And will it also have the filler lines, mixing/splitter unit, etc? How about the cab, how are you going to enclose the cab?
I will be following this one, so please keep us 'variant' mongers informed.
Thx,
Tread.

the wheels are modified Tamiya GMC wheels. The centre molded in brake drum was removed and the LRDG chev brake drums modified to fit.
the cab will be a highly modified Italeri GMC closed cab with altered doors to match the local General Motors Holden bodies.
The tank will be a modified Italeri GMC watertank body and will have all the pipe fittings etc.
all the body mounts etc will be scratchbuilt.

Rooster,
very awesome build, some pictures looked dark on my work puter, I will look again at home tonight. Knowing nothing about trucks, I can only comment on the workmanship. They are up to your normal high standard, very well impressed.
I will keep a close look on this one.
