Completed my Tamiya JS-3 in December 2016. What should of taken me no more than a week or two to complete took me a year to complete. Last year was not a good year and 2017 started out just as bad.

Anyway, I painted the kit in Tamiya and Vallejo colors with W/N oils and Vallejo pigments for the weathering. I added an MV lens to simulate the head light and drilled out the horn and added copper wire. Only other addition of an after market barrel from Aber, which is very nice. I never got around to ordering aftermarket tracks for it, I might do that one day as the rubber band track are not that great.

Outstanding painting and weathering! As a matter of fact, with a different background it could be easily mistaken with the real thing. The headlamp turned out beautiful!

Yep,everything does look great!!!Rubber band tracks, got to hate them. But don't feel bad it can take me quite a while sometimes also to finish something that doesn't seem it should last long.Just take your time,it's not a race.

Sweet! Ditto on the headlamp.

Care to explain how you did it, or is it a/m?

Hi Joe,

The headlight is from a company called M.V. Products. They make lenses for trains and come in different sizes. They can be used on any type of model. I have seen them used on cars, planes, ships, sci-fi models, you name it its used.
