Don't feel bad.

I still lay awake at night and wonder what Trump's going to do next.

I agree with Joe! Don't waste money on a shrink, Mike,, spend it on building a bigger front room.

I feel the same way Mike. Except I sleep soundly at night knowing I have some seriously cool stuff to build every day...for the rest of my life.

My friend messaged me a little snippet including 'There's a fine line between a hobby and mental illness'.

Well true I thought, thinking of my own obsessions.

However, I replied 'Applies to most things in life. I think hobbies are unfairly singled out because they are considered "non-essential" '.

Reply - 'What's an essential thing that's close to mental illness?'

Pause. All too easy!

'Work'.

Reply - 'LMAO'

It's and addiction, plain and simple. You can either make it a good addiction and moderate it with other goood things in life, or you can succumb to the spiral of dark obsession and bury yourself in your hobby room and never come out to face reality, eyes wide and staring, hair unkempt, unshaven, and wearing the same clothes for days in end. Hi, my name is Russ and I'm a Trumpaholic, (and not the political one either). Seriously though, I don't have that many Trumpeter models, but I feel your pain. Keeping them in the living room might be a little over the top, my wife would never allow that, but she allows me to keep them in a room in our basement she refers to as the "Mausoleum".

OK, if anyone tells you that your model hobby is too serious, leave them. You don't need that kind of negativity in your life.

My second ex couldn't abide my modelling. But my first ex - she had (and has) a sense of humour. And my cluttering up the house with kits (built, half-built or in boxes) didn't bother her at all. For her it was only fair. After all, she was (and is) a writer and a musician and a total slob and our living room was her semi-recording studio, with four-track tapes and cables and sheet music and half-eaten pizzas everywhere. A mostly-finished M48 on a pile of Military Modelling magazines isn't gonna make a heck of a lot of difference.
But there were limits.
We were having one of those mostly good natured arguments - you know the type, there's still a little edge to it. I think it was about that it was her turn to wash the linnen. Karin was having none of it. I resolved to threats.
"Then I won't do the vacuuming!"
"Hah!"
"For a month!"
"Who cares?"
"Or the dishes!"
"Paper plates."
"And no more cooking either!"
"Chinese take-away across the street. Seriously, this the best you can do?"
Hm... It was time for my ace card...
"If you don't do the sheets, then I'll... I'll..."
"You'll what!?"
"Then I'll talk about... modelling."
"Okay you win."

It was a phyrric victory. She accidentally tossed in her new blue jeans so afterwards the sheets were mauve. Oh well. She was really sorry about that, but I told her never mind, hey, I sleep with my eyes shut anyway so who cares.
Life together is a game of give and take.

Grtz,

Marc

Myself, I lay awake at night worrying about my kids' spelling, punctuation, and grammar. Period.
