Some reproduction vehicles seen at Lowell:

Sdkfz 247 Ausf. B Schwerer gelandegangiger gepanzerter Personenkraftwagen

This reproduction vehicle was produced by Michael Bollow and the group he is associated with. I believe it is built on a 4x4 Chevy Blazer chassis.

Two more reproduction vehicles: Very nice work on all of them!

Sd. Kfz 230, 6-rad

Sd. Kfz 231, 8-rad

(I believe the 231 is a 3/4 size reproduction, being physically smaller than the actual vehicle. -- The 230 6-rad however, appears to be a full scale reproduction of the original.)

At the risk of being proved wrong later, there is one more vehicle seen at Lowell that I am going to put in the reproduction category. As nice a reproduction as it is, there are just things about this Horch 1a that just do not look quite right. The wheels and tires seem a bit big. The front suspension A-arms are not right for a Horch. The curvatures of the hood and front grill are not round enough. (Compare it to pictures posted earlier of an actual 1a.) Finally that bottom front mounted engine oil filter cannot be right.

See what you think but don't get me wrong. I would still be proud to own it!

A thought: perhaps there was a beefed up, post-war version built of this vehicle later???

Is there such a thing as a German GMC ???? Perhaps a captured GMC?

Thanks Bill, I just thought that it would better to post some of these photos that have just been sitting, trapped on my computer for the last fifteen or so years!

Regards
Mike

However the photographer and writer in me still forces me to post the following:

With so many model companies now making the Blitz truck in 1/35th someone really should be offering the 4x4 in plastic! It would be a way to really make that offering stand out from the other guys.

I may be one of only a few modelers who has one . . . . . .

. . . . . . . or two!

Unusual kit bash 1:1 scale vehicle. Part '36 Ford, part Bren Carrier. Owner said he was able to trace the title back to 1949 in Alaska!
