Hi, anyone here have images of the current appearance of Russian infantry in active service? I don't mean the "Little Green Men" who were special forces or other elites with the best equipment.
Last time the Russians actively went to war with line units was the Georgian intervention and at that time they had sort of a rag tag appearance. It's been over a decade since then, has the appearance of the average infantryman becomes more standardized?
No judgments here, the Israelis had a very ragtag appearance until fairly recently and were some of the best line infantry out there at that time. I just want an idea of what typical appearance is. As with their tanks, what they hold out to the world as being the current appearance isn't necessarily what they are actually using. (Even the T-90A is a minority type in actual service, and let's not even discuss the T-14 or "Terminator.")

These guys are on maneuvers, so their kit is clean, and tight, but this is a standard Russian platoon (Belarus, c. 2017)

Rarely, AKMS (folding stock) is used by some special forces (GRU), usually with a silencer (PBS-1). You can see some Polite Green Men i in Crimea with it.
If AKM is used at all, it would be some rear-area units, like artillery etc.

If you speak of the second picture, they are from combined exercise with Serbian army, so those Russians are using M70AB2 Serbian made version, easily identifiable by 3 holes on forward wooden grip.

Thanks everyone. Is the helmet a modern cut Fritz helmet, the traditional Russian one, or a modified version? I see one clearly fritz type but most of them seem a bit ambiguous.

The K-pot type is the norm for modern russian helmet. You might still see some individual soldiers in Motor Rifle and Naval Infantry units with a SSh-68 helmet, but that's rare. Most common helmet is 6B7-1M.
