I have no idea where the original info for this announcement came from. Is this possibly the M1IP that so many have been waiting for?

I'd LOVE to see a release date for this! I am half-way through a Panda BMD-1, and not super impressed with the kit, but hoping this will be better...!

M1IP is supposed to have turret rear storage, so this is possibly the original M1 as long as the box art is concerned. Good news indeed, if not fake.

I saw this initially on panzer-modell.de so they are reporting it too. So that makes me think it isn't fake...!

Ha! Bad news when I'm almost done with backdating an old Academy/Trumpeter kit bash into M1IP...
Good news indeed but I want to see some more photos and reviews before opening up my wallet.

There is more to IP than just the bustle rack. This one is certainly not IP. And it is not fake.

Great news! I can't wait for this release. I'm sure some of the other recent Abrams producers will also follow with one of their own.

Hoping that this is an intensive for RFM or Meng to announce an M1A0/IP series and early Bradleys, given the rep/past releases from Panda, they wouldn't be the first choice for any kit.

Not an IP. You can tell by the turret front. There is less of the mantle sides showing and the extended front overhangs the driver's hatch on an IP.

There were all kinds of add-ons and updates to serving M1 so you have to look at the turret front. Bustle racks were fitted to all M1 by 1990 or so.

Earlier than that, I was on IPs in '88 and we had the bustle rack.

I transitioned to slick M1 the early 1990s and they had had bustle racks already for a few years according to the instructors. I never drew an M1IP as you could tell right off by how tight it was to get into the driver's hatch. I wasn't going to war, I wanted to get into that hatch without killing myself.

I have "tried" to build a Panda kit before and was really disappointed. I hope they have improved but will wait on a review.

Finally, I've wanted an early M1 for some time but was way too lazy to backdate an existing kit! If it's up to quality and buildability of the Panda ZTZ 99A kit, I'll be happy. That kit at least was a straightforward build with only one real issue (PE headlamp mounts).

The painting makes me think early 1980 or maybe even very late 1979.

Cool. I was just looking at the old Tamiya Yukon Jack kit today and wondering if it would be worth doing one, then I see this. I would prefer Tamiya or Meng but I'm certainly keen.

I've got a stack of kits four feet high so I won't be getting one until next year but I already know exactly how I'm going to paint it and what I'm going to do with it.

Now all I need is an M60.

Come on M60!

I know what you mean but having build their M-ATV, then Tunguska and most recently the TOR I can say that they are improving. Not perfect, but definitely getting better. And they do such lovely subjects for which they deserve considerable credit.

Sometimes I feel ashamed, like I'm some sort of freak. If someone comes into my room when I've got them all out looking at them I'm like "Get out! Get out! Don't look at me! So that makes me feel better.
