I have a Tamiya T-34/85 and would like to upgrade it to display the proper road wheels from factory 183. Will the Miniart T-34/85 late type suspension be able to fit on this kit?

Take a deep breath and step away from the box.

I am assuming this is the Tamiya kit from 1987, not the one from 1965, which is more of a motorized toy.

Tamiya's 1987 kit is one of the worst tank models they ever offered. Do not spend a dime on it. If you replace the wheels, you will just have a T-34/85 with a weirdly squashed turret and a misproportioned hull.

Buy one of the more recent kits from Dragon or perhaps AFV Club's Factory 174 version.

A Dragon T-34/85 from a discount retailer or EBay will probably cost no more than Miniart's wheel set does. Add some photoetch engine screens, and you're good to go (and newer Dragon boxings usually include the photoetch). And Dragon's kit depicts a Factory 183 tank right out of the box.

There are other T-34/85 kits out there, of course. Zvezda's is more accurate than Tamiya's but is very crudely engineered, and the vinyl tracks are nasty (this kit also turned up in Italeri boxes, and maybe Revell Germany, at one time). It's a Factory 183 tank with postwar modifications. It would need photoetch, new tracks, and lots and lots of work. Life is too short.

Academy's recent efforts depict a late Factory 112 tank. Well engineered, but they have some small but annoying gaffes. It is still vastly better than the RPM/Maquette version of the same tank, which is hopelessly crude.

Just use the Tamiya kit to practice painting and weathering, or pass it on to youngster.

That is so old I am willing to give it a pass, like any of theirs made before 1975.
