What would be the correct tracks for a USMC M60 ERA? Would the early T97E2 tracks have all been replaced by then with the T142 type?

Also for an OIF M1A1 the split chevron or octagonal pads?

Thanks.

OIF M1A1s had the rectangular pads.

USMC M60A1 all had the RISE package going way back to the early '80s. Part of that update was the hex track. So all Marine M60A1 RISE with ERA had T142 track.

Armorsmith,

M1A1s in OIF should have T158 (solid horn) or T158LL (open horn) tracks. T156 tracks were long gone by 2003.

I think the USMC M60 ERA tanks used the T142 tracks which had replaced the early T97E2tracks, but I could be wrong.

You are not wrong. I worked on Marine and Navy test projects from 1984-87 out of Dugway Proving Ground. We used the Armored BNs from 1st and 2nd MARDIV almost exclusively for the tests, and I never saw the earlier chevron type track on any of those tanks. In fact, I'm holding in my hand a photo of a 2nd MARDIV tank I took in 1985 at Lejeune being decontaminated by an M12 Decon Apparatus on an M54 truck-- and that tank has the later T142 Track.

After the RISE update to the M60A1, the chevron track was removed from active duty stocks. Everything remaining went to reserve components stuck with the older generation of tanks.

So an M60A1 RISE would not have chevron track. Unlike the aluminum road wheels it wasn't even a matter of "existing stocks will be used" the chevron track was out of inventory.

No, it was still used on the M88 series well after Desert Storm.

But but! M88 use T107 tracks, not T97E2
