well the rear tank body is all but finished. The cab doors only have to have the glass and quarterlight vent window installed and the front body is almost finished to paint stage.

the deck details and tank supports. The copper wire around the supports represents weld.

rear toolbox. Hinges and locking clip are hand made out of brass strip and wire.

I used a resin copy of the Tamiya GMC firewall and filled in around it with plastic strip and filler. The windscreen frame is Eduard PE and put in upside down so it would fit. (top is slightly wider then the bottom in the GMC but opposite in this model Chev)

the open bonnet half is just sitting there to show how the bonnet (hood) will be open.

side view. Cab door still has to be finished and is just placed there for the photo

All comments welcome.

Brother Pouch

Another great update Cliff, showcasing this model and your scratch building skills. I've always enjoyed the curved grill on your softskin builds (exactly how are you getting the smooth curves like that on the upper grill?). The copper wire simulating welds is a nice touch also---thanks, as I've learned something there. Gonna write an article on this one?

Howdy 'Roo,

Oh Cliff! As I've already said to you, viewing your scratchbuilding 'updates' is like being in a Candy store for me......and it's a sweet tooth I can't get enough of!
Ya know, just for the record, don't hesitate to include more photos of your work. You don't have to limit your posted photos to 3 or 4 ya know! (am I sounding like a 'Roo 'junky' yet? ).
The copper wire to simulate a weld seam is dandy, but the tank support itself is superb! Is that two seperate pieces or three? A complicated interaction of pieces that.
Your hinge work on the toolbox looks great, and speaking of hinges. Do you plan on some kind of piano hinge for the bonnet? That will look excellent.

Another bit of Abra Cadabra by the Magician!

Good on ya mate!

Tread.

the way I do the missing bars is to bend a piece of brass strip to the right shape and super glue it inside the body line. Then I use very thin evergreen and soften it with Tamiya glue and then curb it around the brass strip. Once dry a little super glue fixes it to the brass. Then a light sanding smooths it down.

I will have to say YES to this but when is another story.

the tank support is 3 piecs and was difficult to achieve but looks good. I decided on the wire as a spur of the moment decision to experiment and it worked. I did try with the first one I did to simulate the roughness of a weld seam in the copper with pliers but I did not succede so I gave that a miss. All the round rivit/boltheads are grandt line products.

yes this will be done (in plastic strip) when the bonnet is fitted.

thanks for the comments guys and all and any comments are welcome.

I have nothing more to add except that this truck is becoming one of your best built to date. I know I have said this before but it is true. Yu are Up Above the rest from Down Under. Cheers Lord Roo

Thanks for the extreme close ups Cliff.
May I suggest,on the end of the exhaust pipe:If you have a larger drill,to make the hole closer to the edge of the pipe.Or maybe twirling a # 11 blade in the hole you have.Exhaust pipes have thin walls, and it would really kick it up a notch to thin down the "wall" on the exhaust end...
